Even if you've never heard of Kaspersky Lab, there's a good chance you've used the security technology found in Kaspersky Internet Security. The Russian vendor's antivirus engine is used to power dozens of better-known viral crusaders, including the popular F-Secure Internet Security. By adding firewall and antispyware protection to its antivirus product, the powerful and well-designed Kaspersky Internet Security Suite 6 should bring Kaspersky out from behind the curtain and onto center stage. It has strong virus, spyware, spam, and firewall tools to compete against kingpins Norton Internet Security 2006, McAfee Internet Security Suite 2006, and ZoneAlarm Internet Security Suite 6. The Kaspersky product's $79.95 retail price is, however, very high. While Kaspersky Internet Security 6 is a solid security suite, we still prefer ZoneAlarm Internet Security Suite 6 for the best all-around protection for your desktop PC.

The Kaspersky security suite installs within a few minutes with an easy setup process that involves just a few mouse clicks. Kaspersky will even run an optional, post-setup system scan if you want to start with a clean machine. The Kaspersky suite deserves praise for its aggressive security. Out of the box, the suite protected us from online viruses and worms, remote attacks, and malware such as spyware.

The suite's interface has been redesigned from previous versions', combining several stand-alone Kaspersky apps together into one integrated package. Kaspersky Internet Security Suite 6 is well organized, with important settings for antivirus, spyware, spam, and other security tools just one click away from the main screen.

Kaspersky Anti-Virus has consistently ranked well among important third-party antivirus testing sites and is considered to be both faster and more reliable, with new signature updates, than brand names McAfee and Norton. The Kaspersky Anti-Hacker personal firewall works with the Anti-Spy feature, blocking sites with potentially dangerous content. For example, Kaspersky Anti-Spy blocked Internet Explorer from loading suspected adware sites such as WhenU.com. Other leading security suites, including F-Secure, Norton, and PC-cillin, all let us load potentially dangerous Web pages first before detecting and removing any downloaded malware. Still, the Kaspersky suite could do a better job of reporting its actions. For instance, we didn't see a pop-up message explaining why the WhenU.com page wouldn't load--just a blank window. When we turned off the Anti-Spy feature, the WhenU.com page loaded correctly.

Like most security suites, Kaspersky Internet Security Suite 6 also fights spam. The Anti-Spam plug-in works with Microsoft Outlook and RitLabs The Bat eMail clients, making it easy to weed out junk mail. In our tests with Outlook, Kaspersky accurately blocked penile-enlargement ads (among others) as spam. Occasional errors were easily corrected by clicking either the Spam or Not Spam buttons on the Kaspersky toolbar.

Kaspersky is a Russian company, and requesting live technical support from Moscow will cost you. The company does, however, provide technical support via e-mail in English for the United States and the United Kingdom, as well as worldwide French and German language support. Online Kaspersky provides an interactive and thorough FAQ and an active user forum.

Overall, Kaspersky Internet Security 6 provides comprehensive security and is quite easy to configure. It's a bit pricey, though, so we still recommend ZoneAlarm Internet Security Suite 6 as your best and most economical Internet security suite.

One good antivirus, lack of customer support

Pros: The antivirus is almost the best i has some understanding flows like you configure him to exclude some softwere with strange behavior but harmless ( he see the gameguard softweres that protect online games from hacking)

Cons: The real cons are the thenical support, i just tried to buy KIS 2010 from theyr estore digital river, they charget my credit card no payment notice, the online suport just gave me an email they cant do something about my problem.

Review: So in the end i pay to get rid of problems and instead i pay to get more problems, i will never use again any of theyr softweres never again, My advice if you whant to buy the softwere never buy it from them and i say never, just try amazon or local stores, or just go to the nearest PC antivirus dealers

Slow scanning surpassed only by TERRIBLE interface.

Pros: Color scheme is attractive.

Cons: Although I supposedly purchased the English version, I may as well have bought the Russian version. The interface is like reading binary.

Review: It's impossible to figure out how to use this product. Stick to AVG or McAfee.

Great with your computer

Pros: i just bought a new computer and it works great. In the past I have had other security systems and this far better then the others.

Cons: I tryed to put it on my sons 6 mounth old laptop and I had some problems. He had AVG and Kaspersky wouldn't load.

Review: Over all I love it. Yes it slows down your down loads but all of them do. It just slows them down less the the others.

Thorough, but very invasive/buggy

Pros: Good at border patrol. No holes.

Cons: Too invasive: many problems running various software

Review: I paid for the full version of Kaspersky and was impressed with its thoroughness at first but the more I used my computer, the more I realized I couldn't use it with Kaspersky. It constantly caused programs to lock up at various points. Sometimes rebooting would solve the problem until it started again later. Web browsing in any browser was incredibly slow even when selecting the "fast" option in Kaspersky as it seemed to check every object on the page... slowly. I would not recommend this product. I've gone back to my tried and true Norton Antivirus.

At an on line store, the price is right.

Pros: Best protection I've used in 8 years.

Cons: None from me at all.

Review: At buycheapsoftwaredotcom you can get this suite for twenty bucks a year. Whats not to like? Unlike some other foolish reviews, I've had nothing but success with "Kaspersky" as I'm on my second year without a single virus. I trust it to watch my back at all times. I'm no saint on line and need some strong protection. Kaspersky gives me exactly what I need as it protects me from threats and myself.

Good Security.... though SLOW

Pros: Many security features... Does not slow down computer

Cons: 27 days later and my full system scan has not completed

Review: I have had this suite for nearly 3 months. It does offer all the perks of a high end internet security package as well as many user configurable options. Also, it does not slow down the computer during scanning.

This is the slowest full system scanner I have ever seen in my entire life. I had to disable Windows Vista Updates because the first full system scan never had a chance to finish due to a computer restart every few days. COME TO FIND OUT... More than a few days is necessary! It has been 27 days, and after 2.5Million files the scan still has not completed. I've noticed that it will scan about 200 files and then pause for a few minutes. SO DAMN SLOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It blocks content I want

Pros: It works efficiently in the background

Cons: It randomly blocks website content and all desired popups

Review: It does not require any user involvement to keep virus defintions up to date. However, without any warning it totally blocked some desirable website pages and it was so secretive about this that I complained to the website operators that their websites were bad. It also gave me warnings and then blocked much desirable web pop ups from being viewed until I jumped through a bunch of hoops.

Changed from Norton to Kaspersky

Pros: Watches more areas of PC

Cons: Makes some decision without asking, intrusive

Review: As a Norton user for years I decided to give Kaspersky a run. No doubt it is all-prevailing on the PC. Maybe my fault, but I felt Kaspersky was in charge. Get far too many alerts etc. Am not a 'techie'(retired School Principal, built my own PC)just know Kaspersky too intrusive. Have bought Norton 2008 and ditched Kaspersky. No more 'bullying' from Kaspersky! Am sure others more expert will disagree with my post. (no connection with Norton,am in Ireland)

Once loaded, you can't uninstall it!

Pros: Progably a fair program

Cons: Very expensive, poor service, a catch 22 "Gotcha!" on uninstall

Review: I purchased both Kaspersky Internet Security as well as Kapersky Anti-Virus because CompUSA told me I needed to load both. I loaded the Anti-Virus and in loading the Internet Security it said I had to uninstall the Anti-Virus (As the Internet Security package had it all. Thanks CompUSA. I have tried to uninstall the antivirus from the Kaspersky program as well as Windows XP "remove programs". It will not let me. Have tried to contact Kaspersky and I can't. I send email on their contact system and leave notes explaining my delemma. They will not respond. Then I notice that the email address is listed "info@us.kaspersky."con" I guess that was sending me a message. Why do you think that after loading Kaspersky Anti-Virus, you can never get rid of it?

Perfect for me

Pros: Effective, minimal interference, fast

Cons: None (considering the rebate offset the price.)

Review: I tried McAfee for a couple of years, then had trouble with them over rebates, so I switched to Norton for a couple of years. Always went with the "pro" recommendation, but was unhappy with both products. Did some research and found users liked Kaspersky. Tried it and it is everything I want. And the price, after rebate, is about right. I would give it a "10" but haven't had enough experience with it yet.

Sweet, reliable software

Pros: Not a problem, and very non-intrusive

Cons: Some user interfaces are a bit weak

Review: My previous (bad) experiences with the big names caused me to do a bit of research before settling on a security product for my new notebook. Kaspersky gets consistently good ratings for security and protection so I tried their full suite.

I'm really happy. Not only has there not been a single problem, the software is really very non-intrusive. It seems like with the big name that computers should only exist to run their products: they take a lot of cpu resources, kick of scans just when you the actual user of the machine needs it for productive work, are convoluted and complex, and get their fingers into a lot of places. Then too you can never quite get rid of them when you want to.

Install Kapersky and forget it. It's sensitive to machine load and doesn't grab the machine like others when you come off standby. You can even set up the scan to only check files that haven't been scanned before which really saves time. Also, with a lot of suites you get the feeling that they're a collection of products that are duct taped together. Not here, everything is seemless and consistent. Turn of windows firewall and let Kapersky do it's job.

The only support experience I had was with email on a couple of questions. Even though I had yet to actually buy the product it was great to get a response within 24 hrs. Everyone else you feel lucky to hear from them in 4 or 5 days, even after going through pages of questions to even get at support.

The downsides: the user interface is pretty intuitive but actual selections are not well explained. Also, some of the messages and pop-ups that require a choice are not as clear as they could be.

Some say it's a bit expensive but with a little shopping there are some good deals out there that make this a very attractive solution!

Software as one would like it - it just works. Overall I'm very happy with my trial and have ordered a license.

The best Internet Security Suite i've ever had.

Pros: A perfect antivirus engine and a perfect anti-hacker software.

Cons: I think that the firewall has a poor quality than the Zone Alarm's

The most thorough I've used so far, however.....

Pros: Searches more areas than I knew existed!

Cons: The only con I've found so far is that it is annoying how often it interrupts me.

Review: I'm not a tech but I do use my PC a lot and have tried many of the protection programs. I started with Symantec and more or less stayed with them for the past 10 years. While Symantec does interfere with too many of my other programs, it did give me the control that I like, (that is, IF I read most of the voluminous instruction manual!). Twice, because of reviews, I tried McAfee. Big mistake! Both times, it badly messed up my system and cost me hours in trying to get my PC to run smoothly again. I've tried CA a couple of times but for several reasons, I just didn't like it. Now I'm trying Kaspersky because Staples had a deal on it. I've had it for two weeks now and am beginning to get comfortable with it. The installation went pretty smoothly so I ran the full system scan. To my surprise, because I NEVER use my PC online without 'some' protective program, KIS 6 found FOUR Trojans that Symantec and CA had missed! However, the message box just keeps popping up asking me if I want to allow such and such! Sometimes, it is the identical file that I've told it to 'allow' several times before! And if I turn off the "Training Mode," then it tells me I have "low" protection. Perhaps the annoying, repetitive pop ups will stop after a while. It's frustrating that one of these high powered, RICH companies can't have their programmers sit down with a NON-techie and develop a suite that gives us good, strong protection and yet is easy enough to understand so that we can get full use out of it.

computer crashes twice so far

Pros: it found a trojan CA av missed --- computer runs faster than it did before

Cons: has conflicts with other programs

Review: Installation was fairly easy but it had way too many settings to choose from for someone who has practically no computer knowledge(like me!)I thought everything was going great until it started to scan my computer. Two times I had to deal with the "blue screen of death"! Apparently it has some serious conflicts with other software in my computer. I was forced to remove the rest of my Webroot SpySweeper subscription,my CA antivirus file even though it was no longer running and download an update from microsoft even though I have my computer set for auotmatic updates. I added Windows Genuine Advantage Notification and so far everything is working ok but it has only been a few hours up and running. I'm not completely certain my problems have ceased. They may be new in nature because as I was registering on CNET to give this review Kaspersky Internet Security 6.0 was trying to prevent me from doing so! What Have I Done!?!?
Updated
I'm sure it is a very good program, however it had constant conflicts with my computer and with any updates that were added.Tech support was top-notch! They really tried to help but also came to the conclusion that it had to be uninstalled. I have to also put in a good word for Circuit City for giving me cash back for the program even though it was "opened software". It wasn't even within their return policies and they gave me no problems after explaining the situation.
Hopefully everything is well with my computer. Only time will tell because after approximately 20 crashes I lost count! Once I even had to go into safe mode in order to restore function. The hard drive was behaving so erratically it sounded like a jet taking off! At times it was very difficult to shut the system down.
I ended up installing Norton 360. So far it seems like a good program and works well with my system.

User Rating: 9/10

A solid 9 but needs to do better to get that 10

Pros: Catches lots of things others miss, almost daily updates.

Cons: Slows your system down, anoying habbit of asking you to let access to the net for Internet Explorer.

Review: It seems that even basic things like launching IE or going to add/remove programs it will ask you if you want it to run.
It seems that simple things like that it should know and let you do with out haveing to train it or tell it to let it do its thing.

DO NOT BUY THIS SOFTWARE

Pros: NONE - THIS SOFTWARE NEEDS TO BE TAKEN OFF THE MARKET UNTIL IT IS FIXTED. PLEASE READ MY OPINION BELOW

Cons: SERIOUS CONFLICTS

Review: WARNING ? I just install Kaspersky on 4 of my laptops and all four are having serious problems. I called Kaspersky?s tech support and they informed my that the online store download was not downloading the most current version even though I just purchased it last week. The said they thought they had fixed the problem and would check into it. Next, they let me know that some software on my laptops was interfering with their program. They said that I would need to uninstall the software and not use it with their program. The reason being is that any software that automatically updates will not work and causes conflicts with their program. The sent me a program that searches for this software and they requested that I send the log it creates back to them and they would let me know what I would need to uninstall. I let them know that I did not want to use there software and that I was extremely upset that they did not have a disclaimer stating this could/would happen if you installed their software on their website. The said they were sorry. They also let me know that this is a common issue and they understood my dissatisfaction. They told me the issue would resolve itself when I uninstall their software off my laptops. My laptops are having serious fatal errors, blue screen and all. When this did not work I called them again and they are now sending me an uninstall program. I asked them if this does not work what are my options. My only option is to reinstall the operating system.

It?s up to you, but I would not buy their product unless you are willing to take the risk and deal with what I am dealing with. Good luck and here is the tech support number, (781) 503-1800, it is next to impossible to find on their website.

Excellent Protection without slowing down your computer!

Pros: great protection, automatic updates, fast, great support forum

Cons: expensive, dosent have a "3 pc family package"

Review: I gave this suite a try after reading the cnet reviews and I have been quite impressed. Installation was very easy and you can set the scans and updates to run automatically. The scans do not slow down your computer one bit...it runs in the background so you dont even know its there. I have only had very minor issues which were my own fault. However they have a support forum message board and all my questions were answered quickly and completely solved my problems.

As for the actual protection...it is incredible. The very first scan it found 5 trojans and one hacker attempt. Keep in mind I had anti-virus protection before this! It has blocked several malware and exploit attempts on my computer(mostly from my brother browsing porn sites).

I have had KIS 6.0 for 3 months and I have not had any problems with viruses, spyware, or hackers. My computer has not been infected since I installed and it is running as fast as ever.

It is a little on the expensive side but I think it was worth every penny. They have a free trial on their website if you want to test it for yourself but I can almost guarantee you will buy it once you try it!

Good All Round but slow

Pros: Easy to install, simple friendly default user interface

Cons: Cuts download speed 50% advanced configuration very difficult

Review: In many ways similar to Zone Alarm Security suite, similar A\V, but does not have the dreadful installation hasards of ZA. Easy install and solid protection but severely reduces internet download speeds.
Dafault settings work well for new users but beyond that the configuration is very complex.
Quite expensive and not really aimed at the UK market it is agood package for users who have good computing knowledge and are prepared to take time to learn.
Unfortunately the Forum is almost unworkable in the UK

Messed up my system completely!

Pros: lots of dangerous features

Cons: Miserable support, does NOT work on Media Center

Review: Installed Kaspersky because I had a problem with Norton IS 2007 (blue screens because of a DVD driver conflict). Kaspersky looked good at first but soon I encountered the first problems. Email scan froze the system, so I had to stop scanning incoming mail. Every site I went to, I received errors because of security certificate problems, even Microsoft sites, eBay and PayPal. Could not access certain sites at all anymore. Windows Update was disabled and I could not even update manually. An incredible mess! The worst experience I ever had mit any AV product, and even any software product I ever owned, and I am a computer professional since almost 30 years!

Vista ready unlike the rest.

Pros: Vista ready, low memory use.

Cons: Price, Price, Price keeps it from a 10.

Review: I have never used Kaspersky before, but have always heard good things. I have made the jump to upgrade to Vista and so far I am not regretting it other than the fact that the only option I really had for security was Windows OneCare. OneCare had a jump on the Vista OS right from the start and everyone else is playing catchup. Typically I use ZoneAlarm and have for a while, but even ZoneLabs has posted they are not Vista ready, same with AVG, TrendMicro, PC Tools, McAfee.
The ones that are Vista ready like CA is a system hog, Norton opted to leave out some scanning features, PC Tools (Spyware Doctor with Antivirus) had a complete system slowdown until they revamped the program and now offer it with scanning features missing...I liked PC Tools ,even their free firewall was a nice program, but these companies are outsourcing the programs or stripping them of features.

I finally decided to give Kaspersky a try, the box says it is Vista ready, but was I going to run into the same scenario as the rest...No! Kaspersky loaded on Vista with no problem, easy explaination for installation, from what I can tell it uses very low memory.
The interface is very easy to use, easier than ZoneAlarm at least for me.

I would have easily have given this product a 10, but the price is keeping it lower and I really have nothing to throw at it to see it it blocks what it claims. If Kaspersky is this easy and as secure as it claims, maybe the price should not be a factor, It would be nice for the price to have at 3 PC's protected. Kaspersky you have a chance to jump ahead of the rest, drop the price to OneCares price and add 3 PC's to the package.

Almost there, and almost got a 10.

Pros: The best home-use anti virus. Firewalls silent after training. Resourse light. Almost Set it and Forget it.

Cons: Could be easier to use (although I had no problems). Anti-spam could be better implemented. Alerts for normal actions occur to often.

Review: Used on SLOW windows xp machine and hardly made a performance difference. Anti-Virus Scanning is fast (faster each time you use it)and can pause scan when CPU is busy. But i hate the noise it makes when it finds a virus (its like a screach!)
After 2 weeks training, the only time the firewall will bother you is when you connect to a NEW network or you install a new program.
Anti-Spam is rubbish because it pre downloads emails then when you've sorted them you have to download them again.
Proactive defence is good. It won't bother you often but you must turn off 'Application Activity Analyzer' because it will bother you for things like opening a drop-down box in Internet Explorer (IE7).
If you are a novice then get someone else to set it up for you because it's a bit tricky to set-up (once you learn what your doing its fine though).
If the Anti-Spam was better then I would wholeheartedly recomend it to anyone who wanted very good security. Windows vista users might be better using just Kaspersky Anvi-Virus unles you need tht Proactive Defence and Anti-Spy (Privicy Security like Anti-Phishing).
have never had to use their support its that good!
One final point, the program caused no compatability problems and now its certified to run on Windows Vista.

Excellent over all protection

Pros: Outstanding protection against Viruses, Spywares,Rootkits & Excellent Firewall

Cons: Anti spam needs to be more effective

Review: I bought a new dell laptop & it came pre-installed with Norton Internet Security suite. Within 3 days my system crashed due to virus and had to reinstall the operating system of course with out Norton (blessing in disguise).Had it not come preinstalled I would never have opted for Norton due to my previous bad experience with it.I just can not undersatnd how this crap of a software scores so high with most of the review sites. I then installed Zone Alarm Security Suite and immediately my system started to hang repetedly & therefore I could not use the laptop at all. After going through the reviews I installed KIS 6 & it traced & removed 12 viruses & spyware infected when using Norton. After using the trail version for a month without any problem, I purchased it. It gives me great peace of mind because it is very reliable.

excellent for new commers

Pros: easy to install, less space occupied, easy to manage, protection almost complete

Cons: frequent updates, blocks certain sites

Review: i have previously used Norton, Mcafee, AVG but i find Kaspersky very convenient. it is easy to install, occupies very less space, easy to manage. customer support is good it depends from whom you buy it. I had some problem with my date of subscription expiry but the person from the shop where i bought it came home and rectified it. i have found that frequent updates and one or two sites were being blocked as some of the drawbacks. In fact i sugessted to 3 of my friends and all were happy.

Locks up my computer all the time!

Pros: Found viruses pc-illian didn't

Cons: Locks my computer, thus useless

Review: Just after installation it scanned my computer and found viruses that pc-illian had let through. However, it also kept indicating that a HP driver was a key logger. The BIGGEST problem is it locks up my computer. I can only surf the internet for a short period before my computer locks up and I am force to do a hard boot! Looking for another product.

BEST Internet Security(as of april)

Pros: Fast, thorough scans, Quick boot in xp, Very good Anti-hacker module,Superb trojan detection

Cons: not very easy to configure for begginers

Review: This is the only product that i sticked with since my trial version of Norton IS 2004(my first security software). When i tried Mcafee,it can't detect as much spyware as Norton does but is more "resource friendly".Tried Pc-cillin, fast, worst detection than the two. Zonelabs, fast scans, slowed down my pc,had a problem with its antispyware(won't scan).Tried NOD32 AV, fast, WORST GUI of ALL!!!,not simple.
And then Kaspersky, scans for trojans, keyloggers, tracking cookies,start-up applications. The proactive defence really works(i tried to install a downloaded file with a trojan). Web Antivirus keeps viruses from entering your system without the users' consent. The Antihacker will absolutely keep those unwanted "visitors" from controlling your pc. Updates almost every hour! Great All-in one security.

No Support, Waste of my time

Pros: do know can not get to run

Cons: Their is no support, good luck your on your own

Review: I just purchased the Kaspersky 6.0 internet security software and I am very disappointed how this company ignores its owners. Their is NO Tech Support if you have a problem loading the software. I loaded the software and most of the programs malfunctioned installed by fail to run. I emailed every department I could and get replies that I need to notify a different department with my ID and Password the problem is the password issued to me does not work and no one in this company will give any assistance.
They advertise support 24/7 with phone support but notice they give you no phone number only sales number and no help their either "were only sales we don?t know anything about the software" I don?t care about the $79 I am mostly upset that a company treats its owners this badly. I have over 8 hours of wasted time.

Kaspersky is a reliable anti-virus softkit

Pros: I prefer it quite a lot.

Cons: I have not found any defects of it

Review: Kaspersky is a very good anti-virus softkits. I can find most of malwares. It is also of high efficiency. I mean, it is size-effective. I occupy little space and spent less memory resource of the system.

KIS OK, has Vista/Outlook 2007 issues

Pros: Decent footprint. Works well with old windows and office.

Cons: Does not work fully with latest Windows and Office. Support is very poor and unresponsive.

Review: Fist, the product works well for users using Windows XP and Office 2003 or older. However, there are glaring bugs when using the product with Vista and/or Outlook 2007.

In Vista the product currently prevents users from copying large amounts of files ~16,300. A significant issue that directly affects the basic functionality of the OS.

With Outlook 2007 using a PST file Kaspersky Internet Security fails to correctly close the PST file when messages are moved among folders, or when the SPAM identification buttons are used. When Outlook is opened it must check the PST file for errors. Another significant issue.

Kaspersky is slow to resolve these critical errors -- Kaspersky has been aware of both issues for well over a month. Additionally, support requests to Kaspersky Labs recieve this reply:

"Unfortunately, due to the high rate of customer requests to our technical support service, the response time to your request 308056278, received on 25.02.2007 21:21:38 will exceed 24 hours. We apologise for any inconvenience caused. Your request will be replied to as soon as is possible!"

At least they are being honest, I haven't heard ANYTHING from Kaspersky for close to three weeks. Thanks for keeping me informed and in the loop Kaspersky support!

Finally, many, many users on Kaspersky Labs are experiencing issues with very long boot times using the latest version of the product. Kaspersky has had a difficult time resolving this.

My ordeal with Kaspersky has been incredibly frustrating. The product while decent does not function correctly with the current OS and Office Microsoft has available. This, coupled with Kaspersky's extremely poor support results in an average score for the product.

I would recommend another company that has better support practices and effectively resolves issues with the product so it works correctly.

Anti Virus Scan is wayyy to long!

Pros: Covers all bases for a AV

Cons: firewall and web surfing is poor

Review: I bought this software after reading the good amount of reviews on it. After installing it, with no prob, I found that the firewall is not like any other. There is no logs that appear, to show if there is any intrusions being made. The software also slows down web surfing time, due to all the scanning it does.

It has slowed the use of my computer down to a point, where I had to say, enough is enough. I uninstalled it and installed NOD32 and a Comodo Firewall. Both work together flawlessly and very quickly.

KIS is good, but way too much for my new computer. Read the enclosed booklet, since it is a technical type software for all the settings needed.

KAV is the best of the best

Pros: Anti-virus is very superior to Norton. Easy to install. Quick scanning.

Cons: Spyware appears on the weak side. Pricy without a rebate, but has one of the best anti-viruses out there.

Review: I am not a geek, what-so-ever. However, I am a researcher. This product was throughly researched before purchased. I am very happy with my research and the quality of this software. I have had Norton now for about three years. The Norton product is a system HOG!.

Had no problems downloading the KAV software. However, I did know about Norton files that the add/remove program on my computer would not remove. Therefor I e-mail tech support for KAV. They responded within a couple of days with instructions and a removal tool which took out all of the Norton files off my computer. This was very helpfull and made installation a wiz. The box includes a fairly large instruction book which was also helpfull. Upon downloading the software, and running a full scan (took about 1.5 hours), this product found ten (10) trojan virus's on my computer. I ran a Norton full scan about three days prior (took over 2 hours) and the Norton product missed all ten of the trojans.

However, the spyware portion of the software is a different story. After running the full KAV scan, I ran Ad-Aware (free software from Comcast) and found three spyware files which KAV missed. I am sold on the Anti-virus portion of the software. However, I still would be running Ad-Aware and Spy-Bot (free program) scans about once a week or so to keep the spyware off the computer which was leaking through KAV.

Before installing this product, I highly recommend to e-mail teck support (KAV) and let them known what anti-virus programs and spyware programs you are running. I have read that some of the Anti-virus programs and suites out there are causing system crashes. I do believe the problem is caused by user's having programs on their computers which conflict with the new software installs whether it be KAV, Zone Alarm, or Trend Micro.

It's good, but can be better

Pros: It's still the best anti-virus out there.

Cons: Hogs up memory, firewall is weak.

Review: Well this program doesn't really hog up memory compared to other security suites, but it can be overzealous on real-time protection which slows down when browsing the internet. Proactive defense is useless so I recommend you disable it right away, it's firewall is pretty weak as well. If you're going to buy a Kaspersky product, just buy the anti-virus, and download ZoneAlarm for your firewall.

Troublesky

Pros: good reviews

Cons: crash prone. may be unidentifed conflicts i couldnt identify. so u can try. may be its good. but i didnt get a chance !

Review: This is the experience i had, trying to get rid of Norton [which hogs system resources , and starves my 256 ram , athlon 2000+ computer which is barely running Xp sp2 - regret the switch to sp2 -needs atleast 512mb ram]

Kapersky forced me to uninstall f - protect. It de-installed norton [good riddance to bad rubbish] and told me to restart after a complete scan which neutralized three threats [2 in quarantine of norton]. It said that my computer is protected. fine.

so i thought!then...

1.mutliple crashes followed.
2.Internet wouldnt work [could not be accessed]
3.system restore wouldnt restore me to any previous date.

i was forced to go into safe mode and after four hours of tinkering i gave up and uninstalled it. computer was running fine but without any antivirus. so installed avg. but its also is now crashing the system unless it is exempted from starting at startup.

May be kapersky is good antivirus, but i couldnt get to that point. May be i am unfair in giving an abysmal rating. may be its some unresolved conflict with other programs. i could not identify nor correct.

was too frustrated to learn to find a way to prepare dump file and send it to them to analyse.

I think that KIS 6 is excellent

Pros: Excellent overall protection

Cons: Uses too much cpu at times, if hourly updates option is chosen the updates are not made automatically every hour, you have too do it manually

Review: I have been a paying user of Kaspersky for 2 years now and I had never had any intrusion or been infected with any virus, worm, etc. I like the "training mode" whereby one can see many underlying connections that want to be established and that symantecs Norton never even detected. It is up to the used to allow or deny them. I feel good about the almost minutely updates, even if the hourly update does not do it hourly - unless you do it by hand ( they should look into this). I like the overall security that it gives me, the "proactive defense", etc.At a price of 70 dollars for a 2 year license I think that it is not at all expensive. I don't know of any better product, or I'd use it.

Beats pants off Norton, McAfee, and PC-Cillin

Pros: Works well, does not affect computer performance

Cons: Anti-spam filter management time consuming

Review: The holy grail of Internet security seems to be an application that actually works well, but with a small footprint that does not slow down your computer. Norton's products fail on both counts -- I abandoned them after using them for more than a decade. But a broken down update system done it in -- plus it really did slow down our computers. Trend Micro's PC Cillin Internet Security seemed to work well -- it was the easiest to use. But last fall (2006) all of our computers started slowing down. Once PC-Cillin was removed, they all returned to normal speed. We tried the free trial of Kaspersky Internet Security 6 and were pretty much thrilled with it. It does a great job of protecting our computers while having no effect on speed. And Kaspersky's tech support is pretty darned good, based in the U.S., and they actually listen (a change I suggested was actually implemented in the latest update -- how rare). It's only fault is its anti-spam filtering which is a time consuming to use and not completely reliable. Too many false positives! Otherwise, Kaspersky is a gem, standing head and shoulders above its competition.

Lousy Sales Support

Pros: Nice and solid

Cons: Inconsiderate sales support

Review: I have used this product as a trial version. Very nice.

My problem is with a sales.
Sue Fields, Customer Support Specialist, simply did not really care for my business.

I had a concern about pricing... between the Kaspersky (KAV) web site and Amazon Canada. The KAV web site lists their product as 69.95 USD for an electronic download... and Amazon Canada for 64.95 CDN. Amazon has to ship a box with a cd-rom in it.

Out of fairness I asked the KAV sales department as to why there is such a discrepancy between the pricing of a electronic version and a boxed version.

Simple short invalid answer was that they are not the same product. But of course they are.

After asking if they can match the Amazon price on an electronic download the answer was again NO. How could having such an attitude be good for business especially since I took the time to discuss this and still willing to make a purchase thru Kaspersky.

The main reason is having an ecological conscience.

I have done business with Fog Creek Software... and in this instance I pointed out an error on a bill and within an hour they fixed the problem by updating the web site.

Even Manning Publications have different prices for a PDF (electronic version) and a hard copy of the same book.

Mr.Kaspersky its time to get with the times.

Payola? How can this be an Editor's Choice?

Pros: still waiting to find one

Cons: Troublesome installation, Unresponsive/unhelpful customer service.

Review: I purchased this package on the high marks it received on this site. What a mistake! In what should have been a plain vanilla install, we are going on 3 days now to figure out why the product won't load on my machine!!! This, after over a dozen attempts! CUSTOMER SERVICE SUCKS BIG TIME: Horrendous: techs do not speak nor understand English well, the phone # is NOT toll-free, even the emails from support(which you would hope would negate the non-english speaking/communication issue)are not written well. Maybe it's the time difference between here and Moscow, but it takes OVER A DAY to get a response. The latest fiasco: they were supposed to send a file, but forgot to include it in the email. So now I'll have to wait another day to get a response. Editor's Choice? I sincerely doubt it.

Pros: Very thorough, uses less system resources than Norton

Cons: PITA installing on Vista systems.

I've Used The Rest, Now I Use The Best

Pros: This Product Finds Infections Missed By Top Rated Others

Cons: Some Functions Require Experienced IT Professionals

Review: I'm a IT Professional with a large client base, and this product now goes on all the machines I'm responsable for. Pay the extra money and you get a better product. That's what I tell my clients now. Goodbye Norton, Avast, and all you other substandard products. This product will save you...

Many kinks to work out, NOT impressed. Get a good router and NOD32 and you'll be golden.

Pros: Great virus protection, easy to read interface, all in one package

Cons: Anti-spam is worthless, slow virus scanning, many error messages, continuously closing of programs

Review: I read many great reviews on Kaspersky's Internet Security Suite, so I gave the 30 day trial a chance. I was disappointed with McAfee which gave me the reason to hunt for something better. When I first installed Kaspersky on my computer, I had to reboot twice, then do an initial scan of my computer which took 1 hour and 45 minutes. Kaspersky's virus scan picked up 13 viruses (yes scary) that McAfee did not. So, I felt I had a nice reliable program that was not going to let me down. I was so wrong. From the first day I installed Kaspersky till the last day I took it off, I continuously got messages that programs needed to shut down including my Outlook Express. The most often, and continuous message was that the program Dr. Watson debugger experienced a problem and needed to close. So I would send my error report, and I would have another one pop up right after it. Dr. Watson is definitely not a program I want not operating correctly. This got to the point where I would get 10+ error messages in a row and then it would eventually lock up my computer. The only thing I could do to unfreeze it was to manually push the button to power down. A nightmare! So, here is what I did, and I am 100% satisfied with my resolution: 1. Bought a D-link wired router with NAT and SPI firewall. 2. Uninstalled Kaspersky (happily!) 3. Installed NOD32 anti-virus system. If you know computers, and you want top-notch security, a good router along with NOD32 is your best bet.

Only if you have to use it.

Pros: well rounded security suite

Cons: Good luck getting any costomer service

Review: I have been useing Kaspersky again due to my ZoneAlarm suite falling appart.I have had a license with KIS for 6 months and have used it at most 2 months and now for a back-up tell ZA work the bugs out. If you like a complex suite and really bad costomer service, And the worst tech support, This is your suite baby. Give them another 5yrs and then see if they have there act togeather....Sad but true..

Cannot use with Radeon Video Adapter

Pros: Straight forward installation, great support

Cons: Conflicts with Radeon Video adapters

Review: I've read the reviews from different sources. This seems to be a great product and Kaspersky Support is Great. But after installing on my Windows XP machine it would no longer boot.In a quick email exchange with Kaspersky support I was informed that Kaspersky conflicts with my Radeon Adapter and I cannot use it. It seems that this should have been made clear in the system requrements though. It could have saved me some time. Kaspersky is issuing me a refund for my purchase.

The absulute Best hands down!!!!

Pros: The most comprehensive suite that actually works, very low system resource drain. No support during trial.

Cons: Not easy for the average user.

Review: This is the best software protection suite available anywhere and I have tried themt all: AVG, Norton, McAfee, BitDefender, Panda, etc. There is NOTHING that gives you the confidence and security of Kaspersky, and there is NO internet security that is such a low drian on your system sesources (only about 12 MB!!). The problem with Kaspersky is that for the average user it is not easy to set up and get running and the pop-ups are not that easy to understand for a non-tech person. If you opt for full protection it can be difficult for a non-system oriented person to understand. They do provide excellent help guides and support however (but not for the trial version). If they had a 24 hr chat support like BitDefender (with better techs) it would be almost perfect. Be aware, if you do not have a good understanding of PC software you will not like this package, if you do you will love it and you can delete all of your protection levels (ad-Aware etc) because you'll only need this one.

perfect but miss the perfect

Pros: few resources to eat , fast update , perfect detect, but what about unknown spywares, adwares and ,new viruses let us see my test story

Cons: you can not undo the changes make by a spyware or adware kaspsky lab does not yet detect , for example if you use pc-cillin 2007 any unknow spyware or adware cannot get in except if you accept

Review: i use trend micro pc-cillin internet security 2007 and i am not care about any new spyware or adware why any add to my system active x or change to my explorer feature i can simply deny it or undo it later what about kaspersky . do you test your kaspersky by spycar for internet explorer spy test yet?? sorry it dropped

Quitting the free trial

Pros: not sure, as I'm removing it.

Cons: Unbearably slow

Review: This scanner practically brings my computer to a screeching halt. It takes forever to scan and slows browsing to unacceptable speed.

The best security suite available !

Pros: Top level protection and uses minimal system resources.

Cons: None that I have found.

Review: I have tried about every security suite available and Kaspersky Internet Security tops them all by far. You get updated antivirus and antispyware signatures every 1-2 hours even on weekends. The firewall passes all leak and probe tests with flying colors. All modules of the program are able to be customized to your hearts delight. You can even set the program to e-mail you if a threat is discovered. Though a little more expensive than some others, it is worth every dime. Forget the rest, get the best, and relax knowing that your computer is fully protected.

Good if you use Eudora

Pros: Effective Blocking and Management

Cons: Can always be simpler

Review: The bottom line for me is that Kaspersky does not interfere with Eudora. I had been using ZoneAlarm for a number of years, but over the last year or so Eudora had been crashing a number of times each day. I was not willing to give up Eudora and Kaspersky causers no problems.

The best I have used so far on my computers!

Pros: Set and forget with hourly auto updates sums it up.

Cons: The price is high and the competition is tough.

Review: I was a Norton lifer who has "tried them all". Kaspersky is a real pleasure!!!

Very good software

Pros: stable, frequent virus file updates, scans are very fast

Cons: none, really

Review: I have tried many Internet suites and this one has to be the best one yet. Vurus scans are very fast.

Also, people complain it is expensive. It is not.

Buy it this week (10/09/2006) at COMPUSA and you end up paying $9.99 after rebates. To get something this good at $9.99 is a steal !!

Great Antivirus,But Other Things Found Wanting...

Pros: Antivirus....

Cons: Anti-Spy,Anti-Spam and Bugs

Review: I am great Fan of its anti-virus,but my fanship ends there!
Nobody needs to give kaspersky a certificate for their detections and cleaning of anti-virus...but problems start right after it..
Even after repeated complaints kaspersky's new update servers corrupts virus signatures and the only solution they offer is Re-installing..
Anti-spy seems a good edition, but its anti-banner causes problems with many sites including Download.Com!
Anti-Hacker is good but not as efficient and tough as zonealarm or outpost...
Anti-Spam is the worst i have seen this year for any security suite, the only good option being previewing-emails!
What do you do with a anti-virus,if the signature-updates corrupt it from time to time...
There are plenty of bugs reported in their forum and they are hardly fixed...
Another shocker here is their forum-support!!!
I have heard a lot of it,but in real life experience i found it to be a myth!
The developers hardly ever come to the forum, and the only other thing they do is ask you for logs and then say"re-install it"!!!
Also its way to pricy with $80,for this!!

Best detection rate, low impact to memory and cpu

Pros: Detection rates, light on system resources

Cons: anti-spam weak, rules engine in training could help more

Review: Beats most others IMO, yet never part of head-to-head reviews by PC World or PC Magazine and most others. I like it, and won't be going back to NIS on my system.

User Rating: 9/10

an excellent suite, but too expensive

Pros: excellent virus and spyware detection

Cons: very expensive, too many alerts

Review: i recommend everybody needs this security suite, its annoying alerts are useful, but i recieve them too often. i'm sure there must be a way to stop this, but i have only had it installed for about 24 hours

great buy

Far superior to Symantec NIS

Pros: Easy installation and setup, unobtrusive

Cons: Don't like the blue color on the box

Review: I've used Symantec's NIS for several years. After attempting to install NIS 2006 on a new computer, after dealing with repeated corruption of the program and a long trail of knowledgebase articles and tech support chats, I decided to try another company. I read the reviews here, decided Kaspersky looked like a good bet. It installed flawlessly and easily. It works like NIS - detects attempts by programs to access the internet and offers you the choice of allowing or not, but it has a much calmer interface. The features seem similar to NIS. For me, the major improvement in this instance is that it actually works. The only thing I can't speak to is how effectively it blocks unwanted intrusions - that I will have to leave to the testing experts.

BTW, I purchased directly from Kaspersky at a more competitive price, and they have a 30 day free trial download.

Symantec Niet, McAfee Niet, Da Kaspersky!

Pros: Extremely quick, potent AV, anti-spyware and firewall, excellent UI, no hidden commercials, as in NIS and McAfee

Cons: Haven't found any so far

Review: I have purchased this suite after using NIS for years, and I feel like I got my computer back! This product does not slow the computer even a tad, is very potent, and has excellent UI. The UI does not contain latent advertisements, as McAfee's and Symantec's does. Hurrah Kaspersky!

Good, but somewhat overpriced

Pros: Good proactive protection

Cons: A bit slow and expensive

Review: Kaspersky is a good choice for home users. It has good heuristics and provides satisfactory protection, not only from viruses, but also from hackers. It's run-time virus checking may make your PC a bit slower, though.
It would be perfect solution, if its price was a bit lower, so you better search for a discount off its price before buying. There are some good ones. At http://www.lightsparkle.com/product_page-1069.htm for example you can get it for only $53.96.

User Rating: 7/10

Not a perfect internet security suite yet

Pros: Good antivirus and proactive defense works as described

Cons: Anti phising gives lot of false postives.

Review: Kaspersky introduced this suite after a long running beta but it still not up to par. One thing needs to be mentioned that it has low memory usage which is ideal for any computer.Needs to be improved in certain areas such as interface,ad blocking, anti phising. The antivirus included in the suite is the gem.
Updated
Http scanner slows internet. Sometimes registry guard warning can be hard to understand.
