Microsoft keeps shutting me down and I have just lost a logo I had been working on for 3 hours.by Wilma Bates - September 6, 2007
Pros: Excellent program except for the error messages.
Cons: It now tells me I dont have enough memory to frame a piece of artwork.
Review: I love the program and have been able to create amazing images with the filters and paint but the constant error messages are driving me crazy. I have sent a thousand emails to Microsoft and nothing has been done about it. Typical microsoft. Windows XP is fine except for the thirty pages of bugs that they keep putting a band aid on constantly. I wouldn't touch Windows Vista with a ten foot barge pole and my next computer will definitely be Apple.

Easy to use and can do MUCH more than photo fixing!by - June 18, 2003
Pros:
Cons:
Review: I have used all versions of Micrsoft's Picture It! And this is one of the best yet. I did not care for the newer versions after Picture It! 2000, but this one I fell in love with. It is very easy to use, takes plugins that adds tons of possibilities to what you can do with this program. You should give it a try today!

It does the job of at a fraction of the priceby - June 18, 2003
Pros:
Cons:
Review: I bought this for 45$ at Staples (after 30$ rebate). There are more features than I will ever use and all the basics are there to touch up my amateur digital photos and make them look great in a very short time. If you can find this for under 60$ don't pass it up! (I can't believe I have something good to say about a Microsoft product - that's a first for me)

Great for picture restoration but is a memory HOG!by - March 24, 2003
Pros:
Cons:
Review: I used Photosuite Platinum until I tried MPIDIP 7.0. It has all the features I was looking for with few exceptions. But using the clone feature repeatedly during restoration or having several pictures in the task tray simultaneously constantly uses up all my available memory. Hopefully additonal memory will solve this problem. I would recommend this software to anyone who is serious about photo editing and is willing to experiment with all the available features to achieve best results.

uncompetitiveby - March 8, 2003
Pros:
Cons:
Review: Very disappointing and poor value for the price. Poor performance - periodically hangs for 10-15 seconds while editing on a 512M ram, PII ThinkPad. Very limited control of tools (e.g. clone tool) compared to competition such as Ulead PhotImpact. Clunky interface that wants to hold your hand at every turn. I cannot use this software, and am planning to buy Ulead.

Review: The good- You can now scan in files larger than 32 Meg. The bad- When doing a cutout it tells me I don't have enought memory. I have 1.5 Gig Ram and 240 Gig in hard drive space. It would be nice if MS would return to "fine line" before you do your cutout. I own almost every version since v2.0

Pros:
Cons:
Review: When this program is working it has many desirable features and is easy to use. But 3/4 of the time I am retouching even small photos it crashes and I get a Microsoft errot message apologizing when it sends an error report. But you lose all works since last save.I use high speed graphics computer that has no problems with Photoshop or Illustrator so it is not hardware. Enough bugs in program to make it look like and early Beta release.

If you like Kodak Instamaticsby - January 2, 2003
Pros:
Cons:
Review: If you like wizards to step you through the basic steps, you'll like this program. If you can spend an extra 30 minutes learning a program try Elements or Paintshop Pro. I've used all of them, and PI is too basic. Use the tips section of Elements to achieve better results than PI, the additional control is worth the effort.

Review: When using hp2110 printer we had horizontal lines showing up on all of our photos. Do not hesitate - excellent productby - December 15, 2002
Pros:
Cons:
Review: Looked at both PhotoImpact 8 and Adobe Photo Elements trial versions - disappointed. These products were touted by many reviewers as best of breed but I found them clunky to use. I searched but could not find a trial version of MS Digital Image Pro, so based on the reviews read and my disappointment with the Ulead and Adobe products I decided to lash out and buy the MS product. Absolutely love it! Easy to use, does all the things I need and more, and it is fun to use - it is an exciting product to own. Worth the money? Without a doubt. I have installed on an win xp maching running an amd athlon 1800. Have not experience a single problem.

Pros:
Cons:
Review: I'm amazed at the negative comments on this product. I find it easy, fun and extremely versatile in it's creativity. If those other users are so in love with Elements 2.0, or any of the other "better" products, why did they buy DIP 7.0 in the first place? I really like this product and recommend it to anyone that has better things to do then sit in front of a monitor all day fixing every pixel on some picture that can be made just fine by PIP 7.0 in seconds.

Better than Photoshop Elements paradigmby - September 4, 2002
Pros:
Cons:
Review: The tool/UI layout is much more intuitive than the aging and professionally targeted Photoshop UI that is boiled down in Elements. Hopefully Microsoft will continue to grow this product into the professional space and break the 600$ Photoshop entry fee for major photo editing. There are things missing: 1) we need much more powerful batch formatting/resizing/etc. 2) We need the option to see pixels rather than resampled blends for precise editing/drawing.

Review: I was somehow thinking that for $100, it must have some decent features. I am amazed at how overpriced this program is. Paint Shop Pro costs less and is 10 times the program. This is as basic as it gets. Don't be fooled by all of the reviews stating otherwise. It's not much unless fixing red-eye is all you need to do, and even that tool isn't very much good

There is a reason Microsoft doesn't have a demo on this product.by - September 3, 2002
Pros:
Cons:
Review: For a company that does some many things right, this is not one of them. I can see a lot of potential in this product but it is NOT read for prime time. I have revied many other products with the same clames. I was looking for several features and I only have 1 left in my research that even merrits looking at. The programs of interest that I have looked at are Jasc After Shoot, Jasc Photo Shop Pro, and Adobe Photo Shop. I hope to review Adobe Photoshop Elements 2.0 very soon. So far I like The combination of Jasc After Shoot and Adobe Photo Shop. The combination of these 2 allow for the entire range of filters and "fixes" (red-eye, scratch, etc). They also provide an easy interface. Jasc After Shoot, while still not great is the best tool I have found that offers the features it has and does an ok job at helping me to organize my 1000's of photos.

Better than Elements? Are you kidding me?by - August 26, 2002
Pros:
Cons:
Review: Better than elements? What was the CNET reviewer thinking? Photoshop Elements has about four dozens features that are lacking in the Microsoft product. And those features that Microsoft does have, are implemented horribly. It's easy to see why. Microsoft's product is built in the Picture It! engine, Elements is built on Photoshop's. That alone speaks volumes. Digging deeper, you find that everything in Microsoft's app is task based: "Eliminate Red-Eye" "Make Grandma's Wrinkles Disappear", etc. While this is great for Aunt Edna, photo ethusiasts will find this interface to be too confining. I'm just amazed that the CNET reviewer thinks otherwise.

Major flaw - No batch format conversionby - August 26, 2002
Pros:
Cons:
Review: Removal of this capability (that existed in previous versions) makes DIP 7.0 unusable for those using digital cameras. The first step is to save camera JPGs to a "lossless" format (PNG+ is DIP's native format) BEFORE any editing or resaving occurs. With DIP you must save each file inidividually in order to change formats. Not workable when you have hundreds/thousands of images. That's enough for me to return the product. Otherwise it's pretty nice and easy to use.

Good but watch the installby - August 23, 2002
Pros:
Cons:
Review: I've used Picture It to process digital photos for some time and really like the extra capability and enhancements in Digital Image Pro. However I ran into some real problems with the install (forced by good old Microsoft) of Internet Explorer 6.0. I'm running Windows ME and it installed but then generated an error 24 when running IE and Outlook Express. While they still ran Control Panel and System Restore where unuseable. Had to download a new version of IE 6.0 to get around the problems. BE CAREFUL.

Much Improvedby - August 22, 2002
Pros:
Cons:
Review: Even if you've used Picture It! in the past, you owe it to yourself to try DI Pro 7.0. It’s always been easy to use but now it has all the horsepower you need as well. The new tools (adjust levels, fill flash, backlighting, etc) are great – I’ve had better results with them than the Adobe equivalents. The other big win is the project templates. I’m not creative enough or have the time to do it myself so they are a big win.

Much better than Elementsby - August 21, 2002
Pros:
Cons:
Review: The easy setup, and the easy to use tools make this well worth the price, which can be obtained as low as $49 through staples. The menus are easier to use than Elements. With DIP 7 menus, it prevents the user from having to go through buried menus as you do in Elements. The quality of work (finished product) is as professional as a finished Photoshop product. No complaints here
