PC Tools Registry Mechanic 9.0 (1 User, 3 PCs)

Pros: Cleans up the registry by deleting unwanted entries, repairs shortcuts, and enables registry compacting to make your computer more efficient. I've seen a noticeable difference on both my computers. The slower computer improved measurably.

Cons: When optimizing the registry, you have to reboot your computer. PC Tools should enable the option to restart later if desired. Also, I'm not sure of the value of the registry monitor.

Summary: I haven't used a lot of these products, but I found no unwanted deletion of data as I did with a competitors product where I had to set exception rules to prevent loss of files. The product provides a variety of tests on the system and categorizes the types of issues that it finds provides a summary of each registry entry affected. I'm not as computer literate as some of the more advanced CNET members whose input has been very valuable, but the results of registry scans and defrags have increased the speed of my computers. There are definite tangible results.
