CNET Editors' Take

The XtremeMac AirPlay, a shoddy FM transmitter specifically designed for the Apple iPod Shuffle, is a very expensive accessory for a very inexpensive player.

Review: The XtremeMac AirPlay is FM transmitter just for the iPod Shuffle, giving you an easy way to enjoy your songs in the car. One end plugs into your car's cigarette lighter, and the other attaches to your Shuffle. Simple controls let you pick an unused FM frequency and save three of them as presets. Life most FM transmitters, it gave spotty performance in our testing, and the signal was never as clear or powerful as we would have liked. Also, $49.95 for a single Shuffle accessory is a bit steep.
