"I like C-Net, but come on...."5.0 starson by Iggy5150
Pros: Everything - Awesome car, doesn't need upgrades right away, still some people out there that don't know what it is.
Cons: Nothing (maybe the factory defect in the struts that subaru won't admit, but other than that....)
Summary: What the heck is C-net doing reviewing cars now!! They should stick to what they know. They have great knowledge and expertise with the gadgets, but who cares about stupid creature comforts in a car like this.
I like how they gave one of the baddest cars on the road a 6.5 out of 10 because they couldn't hook up an ipod or cell phone. "Oh no! It doesn't have navi. What are we going to do?" Here's a thought, buy a new system if you need to have it. If you're serious about audio and video, you won't keep anything stock on any car. IMHO, Subaru should go back to 2004 and not even offer a system. I like the throaty exhaust note more.
If you need me, I'll be in the driveway telling my car everything will be okay....
But on a slightly more serious review side:
The car is awesome!! Unbelievable handling (this is my first Subaru, so my perception may be a little skewed)!! More power than the average commuter or pizza delivery guy could ever know what to do with. If you have aspirations of being a weekend warrior out at the track, look no further. Great setup right out of the box. Putting more money into it will only make it better, but it's definitely not a necessity.
pros - 6-speed manual tranny,
turbo (stock 14.5 psi boost pressure), dynamite all wheel drive, DCCD, Suspension (upgrades are great but not necessary), decent fuel economy, Brembos, BBS's, HID'sgreat mid-range torque, 9k rpm tach, stock recarro seats, etc. (the list is too long)
cons - Stock tires are pretty much worthless and well worth upgrading. The stock struts have given some people problems (like me), and needed repeated replacements. If you're planning on upgrades anyway, coilovers will take care of this problem. I wouldn't really say it's a "con", but having red and green lighting on the dash always kinda bugged me. The only real con is being a magnet for law enforcement.
I guess that's about it. Have fun if you get it (I know I am).
