"Cheap interior materials? On a Jetta? Thats a joke right?"
Pros: High interior and exterior build quality. High number of standard features. Excellent safty features and ratings.
Cons: Underpowered in the 2.5 liter, so just get the 2.0 Turbo.
Summary: Saying the Jetta has a cheap interior is just silly. Every, and I do mean EVERY professional automobile publication rates Volkswagens at the very top of thier class for interior build quality and fit and finish of materials. Go pick up a Car & Driver, Motor Trend, Automobile, Road & Track...anything...and they will all say that Volkswagens interiors are best in class. Now maybe they are comparing it to a Benz, or Audi (by the way Audi is part of Volkswagen and they use the same materials and share a large quantity of interior parts). So if they call Volkswagens interior cheep, maybe they should re-write their Audi A4 review because the interiors use the same stuff, and the fit and finish is identical. The Jetta is in the same size class as the Civic and the Corolla, granted its a bit more expensive, but compare the quality of those three cars side by side and you will see there is no comparison. Anyways I digress. CNet is Wayyyyy of base on this review.

...or Passats for that matter. A lot of what goes into the Jetta is North American-sourced, particularly when you step away from the engine and drivetrain; not exactly from the Audi parts bin, that. Aside from the questionable Toyota-zen aesthetics of the current iteration, it's been a long while, if ever, that the Jetta has been considered a premium quality car by ANY serious auto publication. It may be a car from a European company, but to call it a premier car is laughable. In the 10 or so years I've had to use Jettas, aside from the one or two I managed to get as loaners as they've JUST entered into the dealer's loan/rental fleet, their interior quality has always been lacking, especially over time and use/abuse.
