"Great ride full of tech goodies"
Pros: The technology is well integrated and easy to use
Cons: Could handle better in corners
Summary: I have driven an RL for over a year. I continue to enjoy the car more and more.
First, the technology......
The technology is amazing. It has more goodies that are better integrated than a Mercedes SL. The blue tooth for the phone, the traffic for the navigation system, the great stereo make this a very enjoyable car to drive. The voice command works very well but is really a toy. It is easier to reach for a knob.
About the ride and handling....
The car could be improved in the way it takes corners or handles on twisty stretches of road. Yes, the "super handling" AWD does kick in on corners, but is does not really suck them in like an Audi. BUT - really big BUT here - How often are you going to slam through a 90 degree corner at 60 MPH? Not often. If you are doing normal driving, this car is great.
During neighborhood driving it never seems too heavy. It is very responsive and the engine throttle sounds are fine. The noise cancelling system keeps the cockpit very quiet.
For highway driving this car blew me away. I recently had it up to 120 MPH for about 20 minutes. It drove solid, quiet and stuck to the pavement. I felt in total control. At 60 - 80 MPH, it is very easy to drive. I have never had a car I enjoyed long distance driving like this RL.
It needs to come with a radar detector. See paragraph above. That was an expensive ticket.
