"Great Looking Car! Bad In Snow!"

    by dgarceau1223 on February 1, 2006

Pros: Nice Leather, Great Power, Nice Active Seats, Crisp Sound System

Cons: Difficult Shift, Stuck In 3inch Of Snow!

Summary: I must say that now, BMW took it up a notch, Changed some features inside and out, on the New BMW 7 series, I love the new touch and feel, I think that they have a few more things to improve on though, in their new 5 series they offer AWD, I would love it if they would offer that option with the 7 Series, competing 2006 Audi A8 L/W12, great in snow, you get the best of both worlds, but I'm a BMW guy, But this thing is very unsafe in snow, the DSC can only go so far in Minnesota and North Dakota, we love luxury too. On my test drive, I got stuck! Price is still up there, the 750li to my specs would be $91,292. But I think overall that this car will do well, maybe its not ready for the mid-west, but hopefully someday it will be. Then i'll buy one.

I hope it snows in Germany for the Bavarian boys to realize that the BMW 750 Li 2007 is an absolute no-no in snow.
For all the great features the $$$$ price tag, BMW could have done much better.
In snow this car is no better than a piece of metal sitting in the middle of the street.

In last weeks snow in Indiana, the car could barely move in 3" of snow, leave alone climb up ramps. It fishtails like crazy and the A, S or M modes are all useless in snow. The M mode aggravates the fishtailing.

I had to literally inch my way at 3MPH to get some if any traction onthe car an dat a speed of 7-10MPH in 3" of snow it jsut starts to sway. Maybe BMW overlooked this important safety feature.

Of course BMW expects you to install snow tires for $2200, but for a pricetag of $88K therei s a lot of desire from BMW with snow handling. My old S320 did a lot better in snow than this 2007 750Li.

The long and short: Not the car you want to use in snow as it slips and slides even on little icy patches, no stability during these conditons, best left in the garage on snow days. Hopeless traction- the luxury is only on dry roads and the Autobahn - too bad there are none in the US.
