"GM is coming around"
Pros: Exterior Design, Spacious Interior, Above average materials for a recent GM build, Tighter body construction, Good handling with FWD, Extremely Safe with its improved frame and side curtain airbags
Cons: Lighter sheet metal used compared to previous GM vehicles, Original production vehicle with Bose radio has some hiss issues,
Summary: The new redesigned 2006 impala is one of GM's best recent vehicles. The impala was upgraded to a higher grade car for this year. The SS trim along with the corvette are Chevy's best offerings. The Bose system had some hiss problems with the tweeters but its only noticeable if you listen for it. I personally have the SS, not the LTZ (but have driven it) but they share similar features inside with the only major differences is suspension, engine, wheels, among a few other things. The car has a nice feel, and it is actually pretty big on leg room inside despite its apperance as a smaller car. Headlamp projection is great, manuverability is great, it has great traction. Overall the design of the vehicle is right on. Chevy has typically always given you a solid vehicle underneath, but skimped on interiors, but this car continues to have that great solid driving experience while keeping the interior above average for a chevy. To the person who compared this with a dodge, I have no idea where that comes from. Dodge vehicles have a much cheaper interior than any chevy with regards to materials used, cost cutting techniques, and even down to the radio and displays used in the car. Dodge is also plagued with cost cutting designs with their engines, transmissions, and the frame itself... this is something not even chevy does. For saftey reasons, I would choose the Impala out of all the vehicles in its class/price range.. and to top it off, the car looks pretty good for a chevy.
