"Good... but not a sports car. Don't be fooled"
Pros: Engine, interior, quality, technology
Cons: Transmission, handling
Summary: I currently own an IS 350. I went through hell to get one when they came out and I am ready to get rid of it. The engine is fantastic. It is one of the fastest 4-door cars I have ever driven but honestly it is ver boring to drive. The traction control is very invassive, forget about pushing this car to the limit because the limit is pre-determined by the factory. Even if you turn the TC off, it will turn itself back on when the wheels slip. Also the paddle shifters are worthless. It is not a sequential gearbox don't be fooled. If you are looking for a luxury car that is fast and you are a comuter this is a great choice. If you like a true driving experience I would skip this one. Not be completely negative the interior of this car is amazing. Although the leather is so soft it scatches easliy. Also the quality of the car is obvisouly top notch. With that being said I am going to try to pawn my way into an S4.
Oh, not that this matters and I am sure that no one really cares but I am pretty sure that this is a chick car. I know the IS 250 is, I get more comments from woman that like my car then men. Just something to think about. I am proabbly a sexiest pig now.

I have a 350 as well
TC could be completely turned off manually.

I'm just a little confused...wouldn't you WANT woman to notice your car? I'm a male as you can get and I would much rather woman be attracted to my car and comment on it than men, that would be. Also, I have seen about 10 of these on the road and not once has a woman been driving it, although I do think the 1st gen IS was a "Daddy's little girl off to college car".

Can you go into more details about the negatives of the transmission? I test drove a 350 this weekend and I thought I noticed a few awkward shifts.
