"A fabulous car, shamelessly marked up."
Pros: Lexus styling and reliability with environmental friendliness.
Cons: The price and nothing more.
Summary: I don't drive the GS 450h. I leased its slightly older stepsibling, the 2006 GS 300, a few weeks ago and previously drove an LS 430. I love the GS 300.
It's sad Toyota decided to add a $10,000 hybrid markup for this wonderful machine. I hoped they wouldn't when the Camry hybrid arrived with a much more modest increase.
I'm convinced Lexus is the best around. Given the planned huge price jump in the LS 460, soon to replace the LS 430, they must have realized they can starting charging Mercedes prices since ther Germans have plummeted so far in Consumer Reports reliability ratings. Too bad the mentality was extended to the terrific GS 450h.

Not sure if I agree. Since the GS300 is based on a V6 powerplant and has subtantially lower performance it really isn't apples to apples.
If you compare the price of the GS450H with a similarly equipped GS430, with the V8 powerplant, it looks like a premium of about $3,500, which buys you improved performance, reduced emissions, and better mileage.
