"Performance/Improved Economy/Low Emissions. A whole new paradigm in luxury sedans."
Pros: This car has it all, at a price - fast, quite, economical, and a killer sound system. Who know economy could be fun.
Cons: Limited cargo space. Limited bluetooth connectivity with Blackberry.
Summary: Lexus has redefined the hybrid segment. The GS450h utilizes its hybrid powerplant to improve performance beyond its V-8 competitors, increase economy substantially, and reduce overall emissions to among the lowest in current production. All in a typically refined and elegant Lexus package.
Some will argue that it doesn't get 40-50 miles per gallon and therefore doesn't make sense, but if you consider that the prospective buyer is not cross-shopping a Honda Insight or Toyota Prius, but is instead looking at the GS430, BMW 550, and MB S-class, than the improvements are substantial and material. For example, EPA city mileage for the GS450h is 28, compared to 18 for the GS430. That is a 55% improvement and oh by the way, the hybrid is quicker and faster.
Biggest downside is the limited trunk space due to the battery stack behind the rear seat. You can still carry 2 - 3 full size golf bags, but that is about it.

...is that there's such a marginal difference in price ($3500 or so) when compared to the standard GS. Anyone that shops in this category won't bat an eye at the size of this premium. Aside from the luggage issue, it does beg the question for the GS shopper: why would you NOT buy this version?
BTW, the EPA city rating for the hybrid is 25 MPG; the 28 MPG is for highway.
