Pros Indulgent luxury, seamless technology, excellent quality
Cons Very expensive; difficult to obtain...
Summary With these luxury flagships, it's all about the gadgets, and I'm very impressed with the new LS. Had the chance to give the car a test drive, and I loved the NavTraffic feature (a must for crowded downtown environments!), and was intrigued by the Auto-Parking feature (not sure how practical that would be). I only wish the rear seat DVD entertainment system were available in more packages. CNET has it right though--this car is as close to perfect as a luxury flagship can be.
Pros Quiet, creature comforts.
Cons No cons at all.
Summary It amazes me that some people here gave this car lower ratings than a 9. That only tells me that these people are not reviewing the car for what it stands for: LUXURY. And most of the bashers here don't OWN the car, they just test drove it / saw on the street, etc. I OWN one and I came from a sports car with more than 500hp. If you buy a Lexus you have to understand that luxury comes first, then performance. Not to say this is a slow car because it isn't. The torque feels real good and it's QUIET. Great job Lexus, keep teaching the rest of the world how to build cars!
"Spectacular car"on by Velocirapta
Pros Very impressive technological tour-de-force
Cons Very little I can think of.
Summary This is a superbly crafted & equipped luxury car, a specular vehicle for what it is designed for.
Pros Comfort and luxury appointments
Cons HORRIBLE BRAKES!! Not fun to drive
Summary I was more than a little shocked to see that this car recieved a perfect 10 from CNET. Look at this months Car and Driver where it came in dead last in a comparo of ultra lux sedans. Why? Because amoung other things it takes 207 feet to stop from 70 mph. That is the same as a 6000 lb lincoln navigator. While an Audi A8L stops in 171 and a Jag super V8 stops in 164. Those forty feet are the difference between avoiding an accident and ending up dead.
This car is wonderfull if you are sitting in the back in the reclining seats but a dud if you want to have an exciting driving experience.Updated
In addition the 0-60 time for this car according to Car and Driver is 6.2 for the lexus and 5.6 for the mercedes S550. I think I will trust C&D over Cnet on performance numbers any day.
Pros Total package - tech, tech, tech
Cons Handling Pails to 7-Series
Summary Cnet's score of perfect 10 would've have been more credible had they not include a con (even if it was a minor one). A perfect 10 should be just that - all pros and no cons. Give it a 9.99 or something. Just a nitpick.
