The Bottom Line The 2008 Acura TL Type-S is very fun to drive, but a number of small issues keep it from being a top performer. To stay on the cutting edge of tech, its cabin electronics need a makeover. The 2007 Acura TL Type-S has all the ingredients to combine techno luxury with performance driving for a very attractive sub-$40K luxury sports sedan. Its cabin gadgetry is nearly flawless, but the five-speed automatic mated to the drive-by-wire throttle detracts from the sports car experience. The 2008 Acura TL Type-S is very fun to drive, but a number of small issues keep it from being a top performer. To stay on the cutting edge of tech, its cabin electronics need a makeover. The 2006 Acura TL is the measure of its class rivals in terms of features and value, but it's somewhat uninspiring in looks and performance. The 2009 Acura TL SH-AWD tries to strike a balance between comfortable commuter car and weekend sport driver, but leans towards the former. Cutting edge cabin tech increases the comfort level and gives it a practical edge.
