"good car to melt the ice caps"

by jokerz on December 30, 2007

Pros: packed to the gills with technology

Cons: Doesn't technology include fuel efficiency improvements?

Summary: I hope the wind rushing through the ears of people who drive the S63 AMG drowns out the cries of our children who will never see the coastline of California because it's flooded by melted glaciers. Let's hope that one day we describe cars as "technology masterpiece" only if they can also be called "fuel efficient."

Obviously this car is out of your price range. This isn't an article about gas guzzling vehicles, it's a review of this particular car. If you don't like vehicles with larger engines hippie, than by all means, go buy a hybrid, but your review does nothing to help potential buyers (who are most likely well aware of the gas requirements of the vehicle) make an educated decision on this vehicle.

You are kidding me, right? What do you drive, a Prius? Those do more damage than any other car on the planet. The most environmentally friendly car ever mass-produced was the last-generation jeep wrangler. Greenest to make, easiest to recycle, 15-20 mpg doesn't matter because in the long run it is better. Just because a car is fuel-efficient doesn't mean the emissions are lower. A car can have 1 mpg but if it only emits 120 grams of CO2 doing so it doesn't matter. If a car gets 200 mpg but emits 600 grams of CO2, it will be fuel-efficient and cheap on gas but still bad for the environment. As far as emissions are concerned this S63 isn't so bad.

Somebody needs to do their homework!

Jokerz is yet another sheep who has bought into the notion that the polar ice caps are melting and that he is morally superior to everyone else. Great Car, Great Lines, Great Way to infuriate the liberal sheep. Affording a car like this proves ones intellectual superiority to folks like Jokerz who clearly do not take time to find out that they have been wrong their entire lives.

You haven't test drove this car. 13 mpg. is better than most HUMMERS, Suburbans, Expeditions, etc. which are massed produced. This is a rare German sedan. You have no right to rate it poorly just because you are more environmentally conservative.
