"I believe that it is worth" on by leashford
Pros: It is a great American Car
Cons: Entry into the car
Summary: I was reading your opinion on the Avenger and I am wondering what year your vehicle is? I have a 2009 Avenger with the 2.7L 6 Cyclinder and I averaged 26mpg with mixed driving. My only complaint of the car is entering the vehicle because I feel that it should have better entry for the front doors. For a mid-sized car, it has the average noise in the cab but not like my 1988 Chevrolet K2500 and it is not as quiet as my 2008 300C but we enjoy this vehicle very much. Maybe you got a lemon that was produced on Friday or Monday. I grew up in Detroit and haved toured the plants. It is a great product, I am sorry that you got a bad one. Maybe you should try again with a domestic vehicle before purchasing one that does not support our economy.

"Terrific car!" on by Zip Pro
Pros: The look is great! The ride is very smooth and it handles very well. Mine comes with the 6-disc CD/DVD player and stellite radio. The trunk is spacious plus 60/40 fold flat back seats and fold flat passenger seat.
Cons: I got the 2.4L I4 engine. Had I taken the 6 cylinder engine option, I probably wouldn't have the gas mileage I have now.
Summary: Good value for the money if you like a good looking car with smooth ride, roominess, good gas mileage, and some good electronics.

"GREAT car for the money!" on by RipBill
Pros: Solid feel; poweful engine; quality construction; beautiful looks
Cons: Gas mileage could be a little better
Summary: I bought this car new in 11/2008 and have not had any problems with it. It has ben a fantastic car for the money. I opted for the SXT version which had the 2.7L V6 at the time and 18" wheels. The engine has more than enough power for highway travel. The car is sound and solidly built. VERY smooth ride and handles like a dream. In the inclement weather, this car hugged the road as though it was dry. The 6-disc, MP3/DVD changer is great and holds MORE than enough music for a long journey. The looks are head-turning and amazing.
My only con is that I wish the gas mileage was a bit better, BUT for a V-6. it is adequate. I am getting about 17mpg city, which is not too bad.
Overall, a GREAT car! I have owned many Chrysler products, and this one is - by FAR - my favorite. I love it even more than my old 1974 Charger SE! -
"Dodge Avenger is not worth its weight in scrap." on by Johnkm77
Pros: Body styline
Cons: Yes another example of why American car manufacturers are loosing their shirts.
Summary: Since I got this car, I have had nothing but problems. Some of the problems I have had are as follows: Power window gear skipping a tooth (makes a loud cracking sound at end of travel), wheel rubs inside wheel hub when accelerating on a right-angle turn, multiple recalls for driver side door latches not working properly (they fixed it and then had to fix it again), "unused" connector under hood was a potential fire failure and needed to be replaced, steering wheel mechanism rubbing, break light turns on, even though the emergency break is not on and the breaks are fine, airbag light turns on (still don't know why), clock too slow (took it to be repaired, now it's too fast), turn signal sticking and very difficult to turn on (are you still with me???), door panels pulling away (separation between panel and hand rest). Beside all the defects in this car, performance is also lacking: Acceleration is some times decent, but most of the time weak (I guess depending on the car's mood). Gas mileage is just under 20mpg for a mixture of city and highway, the car does not feel solid when you close the door or trunk (makes a hollow tin cab sound).
Overall, this car is a disaster and should not have been certified to go on the road. This is absolutely the last American car I will ever own!!!
