Pros Performance, Speed, Acceleration, Class, and good Electronics
Cons Guzzles the gas (which is expected), brakes squeak when stopping at street lights (if they are not warmed up), and AUX port is in the glovebox
Summary The car is amazing, everything I could ask for in a car (and more). The engine really throws you back in your seat if you decide to punch the gas (from any speed). I love how the deep bucket seats hug you and keep you in place when taking turns at 60+ mph. The car is very luxurious looking on the outside and catches the eye but doesn't really make you think that it can get up and go? the sound of the engine, the quad exhaust, and the AMG tag give that away. Inside you get a nice classy interior that is very sports tuned (with the bucket seats, race steering wheel, and the general feel). I do have a few minor picks with this car: 1) The phone integration is nice but it should also allow for audio to be played across the same connection that way there's no need for a AUX cable to come out of the glove box and lay in the car. 2) This may just be because my C63 has the added performance package (that includes racing brakes on top of many other improvements), but the brakes squeak when I stop slowly at a light (maybe about 30%-40% of the time) and only if they are not warmed up yet (which requires highway driving). I live in downtown Seattle and have to deal with many lights before I get on the highway and it's pretty frustrating. I took the car to the dealership that I made the purchase at and they said that the brakes are intended to handle crazy braking at extreme speeds and the squeaking is just a part of it (the manual that comes with the car even talks about the squeaking that may occur)? Other than those minor things I give this car two big thumbs up, I get a grin on my face every time I drive this beast.
Pros OK so it's fast and yes it goes around corners very well - when it's working
Cons Uses a massive amount of oil - to the extent that the engine is being re-built after just 15,000KM
Summary So this is my second attempt at buying a new Mercedes this year. The first one was an environmentally friendly diesel C220 station wagon - just for my long commute to work. I had this car for 7 weeks.
There was some kind of front suspension wobble which I noticed as soon as I drove it out of the showroom - in the 7 weeks I owned it the workshop were trying to fix it for 4 weeks.
So I did a massive "dummy spit" and basically gave the car back.
The dealer persuaded me to buy a C63 (also a station wagon) to replace it.
After one weekend of driving the car screamed at me that it needed oil and water ? I drove just 1,000Km.
I took it back to the dealer - where they did lots of investigation and made lots of excuses about oil usage when running the engine in.
They reported the problem to the factory who said that the rings and pistons needed to be replaced with an updated design.
The garage completed the work but then noticed a weeping oil seal ? and now are waiting for parts ......
So after 15,000 KM it is in the workshop (has been for 3 weeks) having seals, pistons and rings replaced.
Not happy is a gross understatement!!
Next time I'll go back to BMW - I hope that someone at AMG or Mercedes is listening to their customers ...
Pros Gut-wrenching acceleration, stable and poised
Mutliple ways to access same function (for driver and passenger)
Harmon-Kardon system and user interface
Room for 4...although those in the back sit are a bit tight
Cons Rough on fuel...but that isn't a hidden drawback (well advertised)
Trunk could be a bit wider--golf clubs need to be angled in
Tirewear seems quick...couldn't spin tires much early on, now they break loose easily.
Summary I've owned 9 cars in the last 8 years, 5 of which were "sport cars". I've owned an Acura RSX-S, Honda S2000, Nissan 350Z, Subaru WRX STi, and now the C63...and it is by far the most exhillerating. It has the Acceleration of the STi (and then some), where you are thrown back in your seat, the steady pull of the 350Z (and then some), the cornering that the S2000 had (although the S2000 seemed to grip just a bit better), and the plush interior of the Acura (and then some).
One of the best features to me is that, unlike in my Altima 3.5SL I had (which wasn't a sports car by any means), my wife can access all of the menus and even make the bluetooth phone calls from her seat. Most cars shut off use of those features, or put the controls where only the driver can access.
Also, I really like the sound system. The surround sound is great, and while you obviously can't watch a movie while driving, you can listen...and the soundtracks come over the Dolby 5.1 just fine!
I would like to see a bit better gas mileage, although with 451hp and 443 torque, it's obvious that the fuel injector is constantly injecting fuel...so I suppose that to achieve the acceleration and speed numbers it does, fuel consumption will suffer. Also, the trunk is a bit tight...I have a normal size carry-bag that I use, and I have to angle it in...and even then it barely fits.
In the end, one of the coolest things is that only true autophiles know this car, which means I get punks who don't know what I've got that try and pass me in turn lanes, etc....too easy. I've smoked everything from an Evo X and Lotus Elise to a Mustang Cobra...without much blinking...just be aware that if you have the ESP turned off, you may get a lot of wheel spin before it really digs in and takes off (and if your front wheels are turned a bit and you accelerate, the back end is most definitely going to come loose! What fun if you expect it.

Pros INSANE V-8 ENGINE,
Cons Its actually a 6.2L engine (as stated on BBC's Top Gear), and the rear tires only last for about 25 miles with the traction control off when you drive it like a maniac.
Pros Performance, Capability, Electronics Integration
Cons Dealer knowledge
Summary Great review, however you are right by not getting the IPOD integration. Even the dealers dont understand it. That said the overall electronics is very advanced and high quality. Phone is very good but again few people know how to load their contacts into the system.
But meat & potato's this car is a rocket ship & the sound is to be believed!
Great car MB
Fix the software!
