Pros Quick !!! Lots of smooth power ! Comfortable !! Loaded with gadgets ! Fit and trim is excellent ! Cockpit is built for the driver..controls are easy to access !!!! Luxury and performance combined for far less than comparable competition.
Cons If I could change a couple of items on the car I would add Brembo's...a visit to the SVT team probably would have yielded the same comment. A throatier exhaust..
Summary Its all to like ! Quick....Safe...Luxury ....Designed around the driver !!! 27 MPG on the highway..20 in the city..very efficient considering 365 horses ...good looks that attract alot of attention...not just for the mid aged...every valet and youth from 18 to 30 wows at this car ! Great job Ford !
Pros Excellent styling, features, and build quality. The car is powerful, handles well and is smooth and quiet. No turbo lag; smooth shifting. Cavernous trunk; super sound system and simply GREAT seats!
Cons The only thing I've found I don't like is the foot actuated parking brake. Very 1960's! Also wish it had downhill stability control and a heated steering wheel for us in snow country, but oh well, I'll cope!!
Summary I've owned 3-series BMW's, Porsches and an Audi A-6. The SHO is a WAY better vehicle in every way. And best of all, it can be serviced at any Ford dealer! VERY important when you live in the Great American Outback as I do!
365HP; 25 mpg on mid-grade gas??!! Simply fantastic!!
You can't approach all the SHO's features/options in a BMW or Audi for less than $60K. And forget the Japanese pretenders. Ford got it right!
Pros 365 HP!!! A BIG car that sits high which I wanted! AWD, BLIS and CTA. All the bells and whistles of a BMW or Audi! Holds the road better than my husbands 2009 Audi A6 which cost at least $10k more. Mine is loaded with all except adaptive cruise.
Cons greater mpg would be great, but if i wanted mpg, i would have bought a car with less than 365 hp...Duh! I picked up my SHO on Aug 17th and I have not discovered a con. It is everything and more than I thought it would be when I ordered it in May.
Summary My husband has been driving only BMW and Audi for years now. I have stuck with Ford because my cars have been more reliable and far cheaper to maintain. My SHO is loaded with everything except adaptive cruise control. Even have the 20 inch wheels! European styling and handling with American reliability and price! Can't beat it!l.
Pros This car does not FEEL like a ford. It feels like a BMW. The only cars I have ever owned, and spent thousands in repair bills. Looking forward to driving this car without spending a couple of grand every three months for some stupid repair.
Cons This car sets up VERY high. Some of the interior materials are not "exquisite," but look at the price compared to a BMW. Didn't really like that the seats have some pseudo suede inserts rather than full leather.
Summary I LOVE the powerful feeling of this car. All the H.P. and torque, w/o the price tag. 402A is THEE only package to get that makes it worth it. Very quiet inside. Did not like the bouncy sport suspension. Do not get the sport package. Not sure it's a great fit for a tall guy. Not crazy about the exterior design but it's okay, it just sets up so high.
Pros Power, comfort, design, handling, electronics
Cons The price is a bit high
Summary I just bought an SHO yesterday and I love it! I forked over the extra for the performance package and have not been disappointed. There is a huge difference between the standard, SEL, Limited, and the SHO. I have driven the other models and they pale in comparison when it comes to power. You can really feel the power of the twin turbo. The AWD keeps the acceleration smooth with no steering wheel pull. The cockpit is very well designed and comfortable. I disagree with those who say it isn't a luxury car. It is so smooth, even with the 20" tires, that I am finding it difficult to keep the speed down. You should drive it before you review it. The first thing you need to do is forget about what the Taurus was . . . because this is a totally different car! It is a bit pricey, but I think it is worth every penny
