    Pros: Very cute.

Cons: Poor mileage for a small car

Summary: EPA ratings of 29 mpg city, 40 mpg highway are, frankly, lousy for a small car. The actual mileage will be lower. This guzzler is no substitute for the Insight or Civic hybrids from Honda. Even our 2006 Fit Sport (manual transmission) has gotten over 30 mpg for the life of the car -- getting 42 mpg highway in real life driving. Our 2001 Honda Insight has gotten 45.5 mpg for its life and 60 to 80 mpg highway depending on conditions. So let's not pretend that the Ford Fiesta gets good mileage. It's mediocre at best for a small car.

Really, I how can you pan a car you've never driven. I traded a 2009 Civic Hybrid for my Fiesta SE. The Fiesta is more comfortable, quieter (road noise on the Civic is HORRENDOUS), more responsive (acceleration and handling), and less expensive by almost $10K. So far I'm averaging 35 MPG on mostly city driving (39.8 on the Civic when I traded it in) and the car isn't broken in yet. So I'd say that in almost every way the Fiesta is FAR superior to the Civic.

It might make more sense if you actually drove the Ford Fiesta, before typing your incorrect, dislike for this vehicle. First I highly doubt that your 2001 Honda Insight even has gotten 45.5 and up to 80MPG highway. IF that where the case, then Honda would have been leading the automotive industry for the last 10 years, strictly on MPG! The Ford Fiesta was a HUGE deal since it is able to achieve up to 40MPG based on the EPA testing. Plus the Honda Insight was a hybrid, so you might want to check your facts, since the Ford Fiesta is NOT A hybrid!

you don't own a Fiesta, do you ? My Fiesta is getting 33mpg AVERAGE in mostly suburban/city driving and I get close to 40mpg on the hwy. EVERY review I have read says the same thing, and I am not talking about the EPA ratings, I mean actual milage. If you're a Honda fanatic, great, they make great cars, but don't come in here like some expert and poo-poo a car you obviously don't have real experience with. If you're getting less MPG's than ALL the reviewers are, you must drive flat to the floor everywhere you go.

The Fiesta does well for a gasoline-only car. I have the 2011 automatic 6-speed and have driven it 2100 miles so far. On a recent trip which was all highway driving, I traveled 239 miles, mostly 55-65 mph and due to road construction, averaged 53 mph for the whole trip. I used 4.94 gal of gas. If you do the math, the average mpg was a bit over 48. The mpg gauge on the car indicated 47 mpg so it appears pretty accurate. My wife who has a very heavy foot on the pedal is averaging about 33 in city driving.

Mr. Dlauber! Why do you think that this figures are wrong. The fact that you are a Honda person, should not make you biased towards any other car! I drive the Fiesta and am averaging 32 mpg in city driving! More than the EPA claim! I only drove twice on the highway, so my figures are suspect so far. I averaged 44.8 MPG. I test drove the Fit and liked it! But I like the Fiesta better! It has less room inside, but it feels more solid and soaks the potholes better. The fiesta's doors fill like they were built for an Audi! In short. stop hawking a particular brand! Just review what you drive and know!

We can all hype our mileage. Best bet is the EPA sticker. Have driven many years an they are close. Have a Scangauge II on my Geo.. Mileage varies greatly on how you drive and where.
Let don't compare mileage on a 25,000 dollar vehicle. With the 12000 dollars one can buy a lots of gas. By the way my Ford vehicles haven't ran away on their own or had one recall after another.

Dude, the Honda Civic Hybrid cost $10k more than the Fiesta. This new Fiesta gets a lot better milage than the older ones. Ford did a good job making an affordable quality fuel efficient car.

so your saying negitive things about a car you have never drove, thats smart.

EPA rating for auto tranny fit, non sport, is 28 city, 35 hwy. Fiesta rated at 29 & 40 ... For a non hybrid car, is better than the Fit you puport to love. Why are you complaining? Yes, cnet only achieved 29 when testing, but you know as well as I do, mileage my vary. If you really are squeezing 42 mpg out of a Fit, and I hope I'm never behind you when you do, imagine what you could do with a Fiesta.

You are complaining for no good reason... When you own one and can post real world experience, let us know.

Oh man, you gotta love these armchair experts!
I wish people would refrain from reviewing and rating cars they don't own or haven't even driven.

Considering that it actually has rear seats that can fit adults, it gets good gas mileage. A Mini-S, which is almost the same size gets 30+ Highway. This can get 40 Highway with the Fiesta, and for a lower price. And this is not a Hybrid, so the fact your comparing them is not a good idea, since they are on different planets for cars.

You are rating this car solely on mileage? Further, you do not even own the vehicle. You may be surprised that this vehicle has been given a very high all around rating by professional reviewers.

This is a ridiculous post. Comparing a two seat hybrid with a teensy engine to a real car that seats 4 without any silly hybrid shenanigans and that nausea inducing pump-and-drive cruising style is just dumb.

Can you name even one other non-hybrid car that does better in this size group?

The standard for measuring cars was revised a few years ago to more accurately reflect how cars are driven today. This resulted in the rated mileage dropping approximately 10%. The average mileage for this car (depending on how YOU drive) is likely to be about 35-40 mpg overall, very close in percentage terms to the real world to those hybrids with environmentally dangerous batteries and extraordinarily complex electronic and software systems.
