"Hybrid = Please pay me extra money"0.5 starson by EdCynic
Pros: None - mpg < 35
Cons: fake hybrid just to get price tag up
Summary: Most car companies are only building fake hybrids so they can stamp it "Hybrid" to charge more money to increase the profit margin. Although the Prius and Civic Hybrids are the closest you can get, and should be bought to further develop the technology and to reduce CO2 emmisions. But, if you ignore the cost of CO2 emissions cost, there is NO hybrid whose extra cost will be pay back the high price mark up by gas savings, not even at 45-50 mpg for the Prius. I consider any car/small truck marked as Hybrid to be a fake if it doesn't get in the high 35 mpg for large cars and small trucks, and > 40 mpg for smaller cars. By "fake" I mean marked hybrid just to justify a higher price tag to simply increase profit margin.
