"Thundering sound. Windows will blow before speakers do"

by hopVIP on May 28, 2009

Pros: Powerful, thundering lows with crisp, accurate highs as well as 400 watts of power. You can switch the mid-ranges and tweeters from high to low output to adjust which speakers you desire higher tones from. The 15 inch woofers always sound flawless

Cons: I've never noticed any cons, my Cerwin Vegas are always the life of the party. The only thing I've seen them do is slide backwards on the carpet each time the bass hits. It's actually pretty impressive considering each tower weighs 80 pounds.

Summary: I added four Cerwin Vega VE-15F towers to my home theater setup to have a complete 9-channel sound system. Usually I run five Klipsche speakers for movies, video games and TV. But, when I want more volume and the enjoyment of laud music for parties I switch on all four ADCOM amplifiers and the vegas kick in. With over 300 watts driving each speaker the sound is superb and the only distortion I ever get is from the foundation of the house disintegrating beneath everyone. While running four channel surround dedicated to music (the ADCOM's switched on, the Klipsche surround is off and the vegas are thumpin') my house turns into a live theater. Each tower has two switches that adjust the mid-range and tweeter's individually. I usually keep them on the low setting at high volumes and I can still distinguish each instrument in whatever kind of music is playing. Songs with long wavering tones feel like they are coming at me from every direction and the sound field fills the entire house. The lows seem to thunder from all four sides of the room while the highs are accurate and you can close your eyes and almost "see" the sound move around you. Pink Floyd has several sound tracks that are perfect examples of this phenomenal experience. And while listening to Garth Brooks' "The Thunder Rolls" it sounds and feels like a huge storm is rolling over the house. I've been using these speakers with the setup I have for almost seven years now. New speakers and audio components come out all the time but I haven't seen anything new in years that will outperform a good Cerwin Vega. Unlike computer components, my home theater will be on the top as a high end system probably for the rest of my life. And I know my Vegas will be there at the end of it. Even when I fade away the thundering sound of my towers will be echoing for eternity.
