"List of pet peeves"
Pros: Sleek design, crisp UI
Cons: See list below
Summary: Instead of lengthy reviews, I will just post a list of pet peeves so anyone can get a sense of what is missing in a quick glance. Here goes:
UI:
-- no "menu" key to bring up options when running an app
-- no "back" key in many apps
-- no way to copy/paste (e.g. copy appointment from email/web to calendar, or copy address from email to maps)
-- no indication as to what app is currently running
-- when on a call, no way to escape to other apps (e.g. to refer to some email text)
-- small keyboard, does not rotate to landscape mode for easier typing
Sync:
-- Cannot sync calendar with Yahoo
-- Cannot import calendar as a text/CSV file -- Can only sync contacts with Yahoo through iTunes (no over-the-air sync)
-- no way to import/sync notes/tasks
Multimedia:
-- Low-res camera, no flash, no video recording
-- No way to import/export photos to PC (other than email)
-- No bluetooth stereo
-- No voice dialing
-- No good solution for hands-free use in car for both music (use dock/headset jack) and voice calls (use bluetooth)
Other:
-- poor battery life
-- poor compatibility with existing iPod speaker accessories (requires airplane mode for most, which is silly for a phone)
-- no dock supplied with phone

To you guys who defend this phone.... IT DOESN'T MULTITASK!!!!!! ALL OTHER SMARTPHONES MULTITASK!!!!! try google latitude ...this is the only phone where it will not work!!!!! Do YOU HAVE SKYFIRE on this phone?? NO NO NO. All you have are GAMES GAMES GAMES mostly.... 30,000 apps how many are really good and useful .... A HANDFUL!!!! HOW MUCH YOU ALREADY SPENT!!!!!

As a former actual smart phone user I have to agree with some of the points made by this author however I have to discount the entire review since many of his complaints are completely bogus which tells me the author is not smart enough to use the phone which is sad because it is designed on a 3rd grade reading level, or he is just plain lying to exaggerate the trouble with this device.

This review is BS and quite old based on current phones and OS. Has significant inaccuracies and false claims. Further, does not take into account the tens of thousands of apps offering great additional functionality, ease of use etc. This is the single best hand held computing device out there!

I just wanted to point out why the phone might force you to put it into airplane mode while using existing speakers, is that when cell phones are next to speakers that arent insulated enough, there can be alot of obnoxious noises that the speakers pick up that will interfere with your music.

There are certainly a good deal of issues here. Some things are not quite accurate. I have two questions that I'd love to know if anyone has information on:
1-will Apple actually put a GPS in the phone? That is the major issue keeping me from purchasing the phone.
2-I've heard from some friends who have the iPhone (old and new) that when they send texts to one person, they sometimes go to everyone or a couple of other people in the contact list or who have texted that person....anyone else hear of this? This is even with the newest update.
thanks! -
Good review....however not all correct:
-- no "menu" key to bring up options when running an app
NO. It depend on apps, some apps contain 'setting' button. Other just place their option in 'Settings' (Something like Control Panel in Windows)
-- no "back" key in many apps
It does not have a button called "Back", but almost ALL of them have "Back" function.
-- no indication as to what app is currently running
Only four apps are always running in background - Phone, Mail, Safari, iPod...other apps will quit when press 'home'
-- when on a call, no way to escape to other apps (e.g. to refer to some email text):
NO, just press 'home' button....you can even play 'Super Monkey Ball' even on a call.
-- No way to import/export photos to PC
NO. When you plug you iPhone to a PC, it already detected as a camera and you can just copy the photo from iPhone. -
Thank you for your review on the iphone. I for one will wait for a better review or improvements on the phone. I have been envying all my friends who has the iphones but this review and couple others have answered my questions. Most reviews seem to have same topic 'battery life'. I think I will wait for the new blackberry or the G1 from google.

I knew most of the problems that you listed but you had a couple that I never heard of. I am trying to decide between iphone 3g or blackberry bold (whenever it comes out). I think I will wait for the Bold after reading the iphone's review's. Thanks for your time.

-Importing photos - Windows importer handles this, when you connect your iPhone to your PC if there are new photos on it windows will see it as a camera and start up the photo importer to import photos directly to PC (not done with iTunes).
-The home button takes you back to the home screen and suspends the program you were using, nothing is running in the background when you go to the home screen. -
I like this review immensely. Short, to the point, and not full of irrelevant information.

A VERY NOVEL way to use point form,as you say it well help all but the MOST SICK + DELUSIONAL of crApple fanbois to avoid this WORTHLESS piece of TRASH.
After reading your points it sounds like the DESIGN TEAM for this product was a LOAD of ORANGUTANS ! ROTFLMAO!!!
