"I Was a Happy User for a Day!"
0.5 starson by wantikiPros: A very nice phone when it works
Cons: Got bricked the very next day! Apple and AT&T are FRUADSTERS!
Summary: Okay, so I was setting up an exchange server connection. The phone paused for a sec and then just turned off by itself. Every time I tried to resuscitate it, it would flash the activation screen and then turn itself off again. I naturlly brought it back to the store. The dude looked at it and told me that the only way this could have happened is me attempting to jail break or unlock the device. Which mean the warranty is now NULL AND VOID! The manager told me the same thing and literally shook me off. I am about to go bonkers... I have sent a compliant to the FTC, but friends say I should not hold much hope because unless there are hundreds compliants like mine, the FTC will not interfere... I an eff-ed!

lalalanding is correct, not a fan boy....I dont even have a iPhone, but people that I work with have tried to jailbreak their 3gs and the same error came up. The phone firmware is separate from the iPod like part of the phone....if you try and update the Phone F/W and don't know what you are doing....you will have a pricey paper weight.

Try searching youtube for tips on unbricking your Iphone. Some times you can fix it yourself. Try complaining to the BBB instead, they often get results. You obviously got a defective phone. AT&T does suck at customer service. I have no experience with Apple.

yep...you an eff-ed. nub.

i'm in agreement with the others...you cheated, you lied, and now your shiz out of luck.

I work for AT&T. I am an engineer. I do not know how much money AT&T makes from the partnership with Apple, but I can tell you that Apple is by far and large the most unpredictable and whimsical manufacturer we deal with. We have to constantly reprogram and adjust the network; all their demand should be met overnight. yet we have an even bigger headache. User complaints. Believe it or not, we investigate those. Actual network or device malfunctions make less than 10% of the total. In most cases users are simply too lazy to learn how to operate their iPhones properly and, instead of reading the manual, assume it is our fault. In also many cases, users try to hack into their iPhones and sometimes damage those beyond restore. I can attest that there is no way in hell that damage to the core services happened while accessing an IMAP account. It is simply not possible. However, there is every indication that the reviewer foolishly attempted to use one of those "pwn" tools. Well, his fault.

The 2 replies to this review only reinforce my conviction that the Apple crowd must be the most obnoxious fan base than ever existed. Users Lds73, who I think is a sock puppet of user prietohl, and lalalanding accused the reviewer of lying and being an idiot just because s/he had pointed out a problem with the iPhone. So, if an Apple product breaks down, it's either the owner is an idiot or it just didn't happen, huh?

In 3 words...you're an idiot.

I call BS. I strongly suspect that you did try to mod your phone and messed it up because you can't jailbreak the 3GS model the same way you go about hacking the iPhone 3G. Now you're pleading innocence. Put otherwise, you're LYING, my dear friend!
