"Better Than Expected"
4.0 starson by coairmanPros: Faster Internet Then 3GS
Incredibly Fast Browser On Wifi Then 3GS
Incredibly Clearer and Defined Screen then 3GS
Flash With Camera
More Durable Feel..higher quality build than 3GS
No Reception Problem When holding my Phone in any way.Cons: Battery not much better than 3GS
Seems harder to hold securely with the new design
No Adobe Flash Technology ( I know..you heard this before)
Awkward Design Of "Multitasking" Program.Summary: I was on the fence as to buying the 4.0 verses keeping my 3GS. I saw little value in going with the Iphone 4 after all the hype about the reception issues when holding the Iphone 4 in certain ways and extending my contract another 2 years with ATT.
PROS:
Well now I think the reception talk is BS with my personal experience with my Iphone 4. I have NO TROUBLE with reception at all. Please keep this in mind as there is a lot of negative hype about reception issues. My reception is as good as my GS.
I compared my 3GS side by side to the Iphone 4 side by side using wifi. My testing showed that the Iphone 4 is approximately 2-5 seconds faster than the 3GS. This is very impressive. Also thru side by side comparison regarding the display differences is astounding! The 4 was so much more crisp with text that is is astounding. The text on the 4 was crisper, more defined with more deeper colors than the 3GS in side by side same website comparisons. I was always happy with the GS screen quality, but never realized that it wasn't very crisp compared to the 4. There is a SIGNIFICANT difference between the two.
Its is nice to have a flash for photos and video as I was growing tired of the 3GS poor picture taking in lower light conditions.
Build Quality - It feels more dense, heavy and durable than the GS. The materials used to produce the device seems of higher quality materials.
CONS:
Battery Life- I am sick and tired of Mr Jobs touting longer battery life with each successive model without following through. He touted last year that the GS has better battery life than the G which I feel was BS, since I had both models.
I don't appreciate exaggerations of features that don't follow through with their hype. The battery life of the 4 is a little better than the GS, but not significant.
Holding The Phone- It seems harder to hold the phone securely with the new boxy design. Maybe it takes time to get used to, but not yet as I feel afraid I will drop the phone more than the GS.
NO FLASH Technology - This makes me mad. I think it should have been installed with an option to turn off in the Settings. It is disgusting that if you go to certain Flash sites you can't view the sight, also you are shut out viewing many web-casts and radio streams. That is BS! I tried the EVO at the Sprint Store and went to my favorite website..MSNBC.com and played a video link directly from their site, which is not the case with the iphone. You can't play any video off the MSNBC regular homepage on the iphone. That sucks.
Multi-tasking (IOS4 Issue) - Multitasking is very limited, as it puts the burden on the App Developer to revise their app to allow for multi-taking. I am not sure why Apple places the burden on the App Developer verses making their IOS4 Multitasking a "blanket" effect as to allow all current Apps to have multitasking abilities without rewriting their current APPs.
Closing An App - The way you have to close an APP is awkward and not meeting the "Apple Way" as far as simplicity.
You have to close and App by going to the Toolbar and holding down the App to close it. This set-up is tedious and needs a refinement. Maybe Apple with correct this with the next update. You should be given a choice to either close an App or place it in the suspended Task Bar area when leaving an App. I think this design has been overlooked by Apple.
OVERALL IMPRESSION:
I recommend buying this phone based on swift internet browsing with incredibly crisp display characteristics as compared to the 3 GS. Those two reasons alone warrant an upgrade. I am quite impressed.

Well thought out review with valid points. One additional con has to be the issue with the antenna, the need to use a rubber "bumper" and defective strength meter. Agree FLASH should be optional for the user. IMO Apple doesn't allow it because of Steve Job's personal issue with the company, but that's just my opinion. But Dude, you need to find a better website than MSNBC as your fav.
