"Absolutely Fantastic!" on by ShakespearesEdge
Pros: great interface, powerful, camera, everything MS
Cons: doesn't come with a printed owner's manual
Summary: This is a fantastic phone. I don't understand those who dislike the keyboard: I've had just about every phone/pda (since Kyocera's 6135...remember those beasts??) and this keyboard is by far superior to Palm's Treo 600/650. I'll keep this pda for a long time because I've finally found a device that has both extraordinary power (the Palm, compared to this, is like one of those "DataBank" digital watches Casio put out decades ago) and, perhaps most importantly, stability. With ALL of the Palm devices, I was always resetting, forced to reset, and/or debugging. Moreover, I was always trying to integrate their very dissimilated software packages. For example, there are at least two "messaging" programs that come with the Palm device (Treo, at least): Eudora and then the ubiquitous, if not strangely omnipotent, "Messages" program. They're both very counterintuitive, to say the least, and with neither can you execute embedded hotlinks. And then we have the web browser: this program hasn't yet figured out if it's a WAP browser or a fully-functional-that's-far-from-fully-functional web browser. What it does do (such as download complete websites) it does so poorly that it renders itself redundant almost immediately. And what it doesn't do, it ought to: integrate WAP technology, CSS, Javascript, Zoom, etc. The Contacts look a mess, the Calendar couldn't be more insufferably bland and oh-so rudimentary (reminiscent of Sharp's Wizard of about fifteen years ago), and the Reminders are so elusive that they draw you away from whatever task they're representing (by interrupting whatever else you're doing on the device in order to announce its presence) and send you into a "hunt-and-peck" maelstrom...because once you tap "OK" (if just to say "#$%% off for now, I'm busy!" and get back to whatever it was you were doing), the reminder has either gone into hiding or is gone forever - and is there really a difference???
However, this device is something like Mrs. Baile of "As Time Goes By" (for those of you not familiar with this Brit-com, you should watch it!): ever-respectful of your position, beautiful to look at (in its own way), always has your personal well-being at heart, trustworthy of your valuable, and sometimes confidential, information, can be whimsical but NEVER cute, and can (and will) kick your ass if you're not working up to speed.
But, Hey Verizon! Give us a printed owner's manual, for God's sake! I printed it out from the CD at 118 pages...!! This thing needs its own briefcase! -
"Terrbile Battery Life" on
Pros: This is a full feature PDA/Phone. Pcoket PC OS, so if it doesnt have the application you want, you can find it easily. Voice quality is good, it is easy to use.
Cons: Bluetooth is mediocre for its support of headsets/cars. Battery life with any application that uses data (i.e. GoodLink) is horrible. Our users could not even make it from dusk to dawn with the device on a single charge. A phone of any sort should be a

"It's SO nice, BUT . . . . there are a few problems!" on by MoreRockin
Pros: The coolest phone I've ever seen!
Cons: Akward, max volume during call is weak, setting up email is a PAIN . . .
Summary: This phone is by far the coolest on the market. It has everything, video camera, still image camera, email, internet, pda, and not to mention its a phone.
The camera takes excellent pictures. The screen on this phone is great.
Okay, the problems . . . first off, setting up an email account has been an unsuccessful journey for me. My company already has enough hoops to jump through to get it setup and doing it on this is a pain.
The internet browser is fair. I was expecting more but i guess the technology hasn't quite got there.
Placing calls while driving is out of the question. Even while you've got a call in progress, good luck on even hearing anything, even with the volume maxed out. The speakerphone is weak as well.
In conclusion, the PDA phone still has a bit of evolving to do to be a complete PDA phone. Honestly, this would make a great PDA. But the phone really isn't impressive at all.
Good Luck,
Cheers -
"The Swiss Army Knife of PDA-Phones...." on by netnole
Pros: screen, features, high speed data, windows mobile 2003
Cons: heavy, batt life
Summary: Have had this for about two months. I've had every PDA under the sun. Windows Mobile 2003 laps Palm, Blackberry. This is a micro laptop that slips into your back pocket. Super high res screen, MS Office, speaker phone, windows media player, web. I installed MS Voice Command - hit a button, say, "call John on mobile, "open contacts", "open Yahoo", "play Dave Matthews". Amazing.
Most major cities now have EVDO high speed data access. Imagine connecting to the web via this pda at speeds from 300-700K. Screen is large enough to view regular websites (My Yahoo, CNN, Mapquest). Plus, you can switch the screen to landscape mode for even better viewing. With this high speed service you can easily view streaming video on WMP 9.0. Always on high speed - without having to be near a wi-fi "hot spot". I travel a lot, spend a lot of time in airports. Bought an extra battery (that charges in the back of the cradle). Wafer-thin, bring it with you if you think you'll be away from a power source for a long time. Internal backup batter gives you 30 min of power to save your data. Great. -
