Pros: BlackBerry for emails

Cons: Deceptive trade practices by Nextel, marginal Bluetooth performance

Summary: I trialed two 7520 units for my business. I returned them to the Nextel owned store within the 15 day trial period because of marginal reception in my building. The store personel were professional and credited my Visa for the price of the phone. Two weeks latter I got a bill from Nextel for > $700 for the price of the phone. After endless phone trees and holding I was told that the phones can only be used for 30 min. within the trial period. This was not represented in the written contract and was specifically contradicted verbally. BTW, how can one evaluate a phone in 30 min.!!! After five hours of my time, this issue is still not resolved eventhough the Nextel store manager agrees with my claim completely and has told the home office as much. This may end up in the Attorney General's office.
Also the Bluetooth worked poorly with my car sync. and two headsets.

Just because you had problems with Nextel service and/or billing has nothing to do with the phone. I've had Nextel for several years and never had the problems you described. You don't have 30 minutes to evaluate a phone. Who ever told you that is wrong if in fact someone did say that. Amazing.

Verizon, t-mobile, Cingular... they all have poor service and problems as well. T-mobile has terrible customer service, some dropped calls. Cheapest of the bunch. You get what you pay for. Cingular is "drop call central." forget that noise. Cigular sucks rocks. Verizon may be the best (for now) but they are almost Nextel mirrors- since they compete so closely. A bit more expensive, but no international. Push to talk too slow and no GPS tracking like Telenav.

I am waiting for the Nextel/ Sprint merger. Could be the best of all- they will need handests that share both towers- Sprint and Nextel. Should double the coverage at least- phones switching automatically from IDEN to PCS, depending upon coverage level. Plus, Sprint's data will be as fast as a cable modem- over 1mb per second. That will open the door for some REALLY feature-packed Blackberries.

I have an Acura with Bluetooth. I've had Cingular Blue before. There tends to be an echo on all of the phones I've had.

Is Nextel insane?!! 15 min?!! I am glad you wrote this opinion. I am a Blackberry 7510 user and have not had any problems with Nextel yet (at least until I have them audit my bill to see if they overcharged me or double-billed) but I will surely keep my eyes peeled when I upgrade my phone. Thanks

It is a shame that you have received such poor service, of course in building coverage is something no carrier guarantees. But, to make a blanket statement to avoid is a little harsh. The 30 min time limit on returns is not valid. The manager probably should of directed you to call and deactivate this unit with Customer Care. You have a business and the best way to purchase a business tool is from a business rep at Nextel. Do not slam the product because it did not work out for you. It is a business tool greater research on your part would have resulted in a potentially better outcome. If you would have worked with a business rep he would have allowed you to demo the product, the Nextel retail should have allowed you do the same if you asked. If they were unable to they would have directed you to Nextel source that could help. This is not like buying a pair of pants, where you can just return them if they do not fit.
