Pros Improved Browser and speed
Touch Screen for Navigating
Cons Price right now
Summary Let's start off by saying this is a great piece of work. The down falls mentioned in this review are nothing to me nor probably anyone that hasn't gotten over the novelty of owning a phone that can do a butt load of things you never use.
Battery: A little weaker, but still great. It is pushing more hardware so what would I expect. A full day is not a problem.
App Stores: If your phone does everything you want in the way you want done, what important apps do you need to add to your phone (Blackberry). There are probably people out there that have different wants, but I have no need for games on my phone. My only use for them is to keep my 5 year old occupied in the car from time to time. I am sure there are games good enough for that if needed. Most other apps on the other platforms are there to make their phone's current functions better. Blackberry does pretty much everything it does do very well.
SD card is behind the Battery:
Nice if it wasn't, but I might take mine out 3 times a year.
Now for the positives, and I will use my Bold 9650 as a Benchmark:
Keyboard: Not much different other than it silky smoothness. Zero effort on softer rubber keys. It just has a great feel to it. It lost its plastic feel altogether. Not that the 9650 wasn't good, but this thing is a pleasure.
Android like. Crisp and great color. Definately a lot wider which matters when viewing web pagers. Every mm counts.
Touchscreen is more useful than expected. Just not having to scroll at all is nicer than it would seem. Moving up and down websites is a load more fluid. Sliding up and down sites like an Iphone. Pinch magnifying is nice to have.
Music interface: Runs like an IPOD. Actually plays music from itunes. External Speaker could be loader. Running with headphones is great. Easy volume and song skip buttons.
Camera: Still pics are clear when you get a good one. The lack of autofocus makes things a bit more challanging. Haven't given this much time. We'll see if it gets better. Not a killer for me.
Video Camera: Very good. 4 out 5. Took good videos at the pool, and also recorder my swing at the range. I thought it was very nice.
Phone: Sounds 20% better than the 9650. No issues whatsoever. Not too much time committed to this, but sound was so good that I didn't take any notice to it. That says something in itself.
Web Browsing: A world of difference. Fast as anything else I have used. It's not 4g, but it moves at a non-annoying pace. Biggest improvement from the last Bold. Thank god. This is where the touchscreen makes itself very usefull. Scrolling, magnifying, and pressing links. Bravo.
Contacts, Calendar, and Tasks: Blackberry's wheelhouse. No change needed in my opinion.
To sum it up... it is my perfect device. There are more capable devices out there for sure. They are capable for the people that want to entertain themselves with apps, and want to improve on the inate abilities of there unpolished operating systems. I am sure BB has plenty of decent timewaster games to download, but certainly not as sweet as the other 2 platforms. As for the apps available for productivity.. BB doesn't really have any that aren't already there and in good form. I am sure some of you have ones you use, but I don't have the need(yet).
For myself, this is all the phone I currently need, and prefer. I am a physical keyboard user. I was fine operating an Android for about 5 months, but it was a stressful experience. Just answering a call raised my heart beat. Texting and emailing was a chore. Sometimes I delayed responses for when I had the opportunity to devote my full concentration. Some communication was neglected altogether because it became a chore. I am definately biased here because I am constantly told people enjoy the touch keyboard..I just don't see it. I am definately finding myself short answering an email more often in the car more often. I don't condone it, and keep it to a bear minimum. Sorry
I love this phone because it is PERFECT for me. It has refined what truly needed improvement... the web experience. My only fear is that the next generation may be a little better. This is why I jumped on it the day it came out, and am thrilled that I did.
This is the first review I ever took time to submit if that adds any weight to my endorsement!
Pros * Fantastic build quality and very thin
* Very high performance in all apps
* Browser on par with by iPad for rendering and performance
* Screen resolution
* Touch screen
* Best keyboard on any mobile phone, period
Cons * Screen size can be small for some web sites
* OS 7 takes up a lot of the 768 MB of ram (~190 MB available for apps, which isn't bad as apps usually 1-3 MB, just lower than expected)
Summary Performance in virtually all areas of the thanks to the 1.2 GHz snapdragon CPU and Adreno 205 GPU (which is the same GPU in the Sony/Ericsson Playstation phone). The Blackberry can finally enjoy not only real games based on OpenGL, but all animations in apps also benefit from the GPU.
The screen resolution on my Bold 9000 was very crisp, but the resolution on the 9900 is super crisp at 640x480 on a 2.8" display (287 dpi), which is high enough that you cannot see individual pixels. The keyboard is the best of any phone and I didn't think it could get better than the 9000, but it really is.
Bottom line, the Blackberry 9900 is now finally on par with Android and iOS, but with the addition of email, calendar, BBM and social apps that are so much better on Blackberry.
Pros Touch screen, BEST KEYBOARD IN THE WORLD, slim, classy, screen resolution
Cons price, but well worth it
Summary Coming from an iPhone 4, i have high expectations when it comes to smartphones. When i saw the Bold 9930 i knew it was the phone i wanted. I saved up, and bought it contract free. I have to say, that while it might be expensive, its worth every penny. the keyboard is amazing! i can type so fast! i've had a bold 9700 before and the original droid and nothing compares. The touch screen is also very cool and iPhone like resolution and responsiveness. But i love the design. Its so slim, classy, and when you set it down its definitely one of the sexiest phones out there.
Pros Keyboard is great
Screen resolution is clear and bright in daylight
Battery is good for a busy work day using the phone for talk, text, and email.
Coordination with outlook is amazing.
Wi-Fi makes up for any shortcoming with the internet speed at home or
Cons The cost was higher that i would have liked to see, but Verizon worked with me on some discounts.
The web browser is adequate, but not as easy to use as android.
The screen size should be a half in taller.
It would be nice to have a widescreen camera an
Summary I recommend this phone for heavy phone, text, email, calendar users. It is easy to use when multitasking, has quality features and an adequate battery life ( which is very important for us who don't want to spend time in the middle of the day charging in the car).
Cons Battery Life
Summary The best Blackberry to date! Better than any other smartphone experience I have had.
