"Wish I had my Palm back" on by redoty
Pros: I "upgraded" to the Bold from my Palm Treo Pro. The screen is bright and the ability to scroll thru the apps is nice. Internet access and GPS are quick, easy and very effective.
Cons: Sometimes I want to throw this out the window and go back to my Palm. Some features don't make any sense at all e.g. if someone leaves a voice mail it is identified as a "missed call" and you have to press the "RIM" button to determine which it is...real
Summary: I got sucked in by all the Blackberry hype. That and the fact that Sprint dropped the Palm line. I've had the Bold now for almost a year and I still haven't gotten used to it. My next will probably be Motorola but next time I'll try before I buy although it's really hard to evaluate these products in a short time. When I switched from the Palm and had a hard time adjusting I thought it was just me but I'm now convinced that the engineers at RIM pushed ease-of-use and practicality to the bottom of their list of objectives. Some of the optional settings defy logic...it's as though it was designed by committee on a Friday afternoon. I think part of the problem is that they tried too hard to make it do too much. In fact, I bought this because I needed a cell designed for the professional and was chagrined to find that it was loaded with a ton of useless apps (think bloatware). Sure wish they had spent more time designing this as a robust device for the professional.
