"Wait Awhile Before Diving In"2.5 starson by setolee
Pros: New Design, Screen Display, New OS Menu
Cons: OS Bugs or Hardware issues are prevailing in early delivered units.
Summary: I was looking forward to this new BB and waited 2 months for it. Picked it up at local T-Mobile store on 2/11 and have already been through 5 units. First one had extremely unstable signal. At home where I had a solid 4 bars signal on my old BB 8100 the new 8900 was fluctuating from 1-3 bars and dropping calls. Since I was within the "Buyer's Remorse" period I took it back to the store for an exchange and the second unit did not even start up at the store. Sales rep took out a third unit and using it over the president day weekend the camera froze up 3 times and had to hard reboot each time to get it working again. On Monday morning the bluetooth function (no problems over the weekend) kept giving me an error message stating not enough memory to allocate for function, need to close opened programs even though no other programs were opened. Took 3rd unit back on Tuesday morning and sales rep at store being somewhat skeptical of my experienced problems exchanged for 4th unit. Upon starting up 4th unit it could not connect to network. Waited 10 minutes for connection (rep stated it may take a few minutes to propergate the new unit through T-Mobile system). After hard rebooting twice and trying to connect outside of store sales rep gave up and took out 5th unit which connected immediately and seems to be working okay(?). I will use it for the next few days since 2/14 will be the last day of "Buyer Remorse". Price paid and the time spent on trouble shooting and going to the store for the replacements not worth it. I am now highly considering the Iphone and switching to ATT after 10 years with T-Mobile.I gave up on the 5th unit and switched to the iPhone & ATT within my buyer remorse period. Should have done it sooner! Reluctant to switch service and being with T-Mobile for 10 years I gave them every opportunity to keep my account and they did not care to. T-Mobile customer service has deteriorated over the last few years. The iPhone is great and so is ATT service. They have come a long way in the last few years since taking over Cingular. I have much better coverage in all areas. Areas that I use to get none to 1 bar signal from T-Mobile I now have full 5 bars signal from ATT. The iPhone although missing some basic features which I learned to work around is the quintessential mobile device that everyone is trying emulate but have not come close. With over 20,000 available apps it will make your everyday life more convenient. Just make sure that ATT service is available your area because your mobile device is only as good as the service provider.
