"I've had 2 hands, 2 feet and overnight grew a pearl attachment to my body" on by MishyGA

Pros: Amazing Software, Awesome Camera, Fantastic overall!!!

    Cons: Sprint disabled the MMS

Summary: A month ago I ordered the Pearl for myself, my 2nd line with Sprint was going to cancel the account since the contract is up, but my mother loved my phone so much, I ordered one for her!!!

I am absolutely blown away with the technology of this phone, makes all my other phones (old sanyo flips) look like toys! The camera is absolutely amazing!!! It blew me away the clarity of them, even of things in FAR distance. The Sprint GPS is amazing, the Sprint Speed when in the ENVO (?) area is mind blowing. Sprint TV is only a minute behind on cable. You can't go wrong with this phone. I was used to using T9, so SureType is nothing new for me. My mother who just got hers last night was texting away as if she's been texting for years!! Sprint's Everything plan is REALLY AN AMAZING PRICE for all that you get with it... 1 very low fee for EVERYTHING!! I personally don't talk much in the day since I'm at work all the time, so I have the Simply Everything 450, but it INCLUDES the blackberry fees!! No EXTRA coming out, no pick a plan and add texting, web, ect... IT'S ALL INCLUDED for a MUCH lower price!! I am telling you I could sell these things because of the great deal!! I almost got a Centro... and I can't understand why Sprint is marketing that phone when for the same price (at least when I got my two) you can get a 20 times better phone with a much more capabilities.

My ONLY drawback is Sprint has their own picture uploaded program (which has it's benefits) it's saves all the pictures you ever send into an online album and you can always retreive them. But because of that service they have, using the MMS isn't possible, you have to send to an email adress. Well just a side hint to everything I found a trick. I saved in my addresses "Me Email" so I can just send to my (Sprint#)@pm.sprint.com (I think that's it??) and once I get the pic sent, I copy the number I want to send the picture to, open the picture, click forward and paste the phone number I want to send to. Kinda a little trick I learned. I LOVE the phone tooooooo much to let that spoil the begining of a beautiful relationship I have....(the trick is a bit of a pain in the hiney when you want to just shoot and send like I used to on the toy phones I had LOL) Just wanted to give my 2 cents! I totally love the phone and I think you all will too... the Curve is pretty sweet as well, but the Pearl is just a sexy lil number ;)

"small and fun little phone" on by orange636

Pros: full featured. easy to use. pocketable.

Cons: only 50mb of internal memory

Summary: i had a palm tx and a basic phone. wanting to integrate these, i got sick of waiting for the iphone to get 3g fast and allow 3rd party apps so i did research on what was available.

palm isn't even trying to stay current, but i did look at the centro. didn't like the keyboard and no gps.

second, i looked into some sorty of windows devices but they all have clunky interfaces and are slow due to processor demand.

so i checked out the blackberry. the pearl got my cash because it is tiny and once i put in the bphone theme it was easy on the eyes with great icons. i learned the system in just a couple days and put all my palm data on it.

although it only has 50mb of internal memory, i have been able to put 3rd party apps on it because just like my palm, the reader goes on the device and the data goes on the memory card.

i am very happy with the icons and trackball. my palm touch screens always ended up with dead spots so i am glad to be done with that type of interface.

suretype isn't my thing, so i do some multitap and feel the compromise is way worth it due to getting such a small, pocketable phone.

apparently new OS software is coming soon, but the email reader is the one weak spot on a BB. i installed empower and it's great.

great community support too so it's easy to get answers to any questions that come up.

"Best smartphone I ever used!" on by hiphophawley

Pros: The suretype learns the words you use most and is at least 99% accurate. The call clarity is amazing when compared to any other Sprint phone I have used. Matches perfectly with the Everything Plan.

Cons: The suretype text messaging takes a little getting used to, but it's amazing after a day or two.

Summary: This has been, by far, the best Sprint phone I have ever used. It's fast, functional, and has more features than most people would even want to use. Most smartphones loss out in the phone functionality department, but the Pearl is spot on with the top of the line camera phones that Sprint offers. Call clarity is great. The call volume is great. The EV network is extremely fast matched with this phone, and the browser and other internet based functions of the phone seem to be just as quick. I've heard people complain about Sprint TV being laggy on the Pearl, but I have not experienced that at all. Within 30 seconds I can watch full streaming media and it looks and sounds great. The email functionality is one of the best features of the Pearl. Adding in multiple email accounts (hotmail, gmail, yahoo, and aol) was simple and it works great! The text messaging took a little gettings used to, but after a few hours of use, the phonee seemed to just know what I was typing. I can now type faster on this phone than with my business phone (MotoQ). Sprints Simply Everything plan is the perfect partner to this phone. If you are very mobile and use your phone throughout the entire day, you are in luck. The battery life is GREAT! Using SprintTV, Radio, texting, emailing, the browser, and making phone calls almost the entire day, I still have about 1/4 battery power at the end of the day when it goes on the charger. With a second battery, you would never worry about battery life, EVER! Loading MP3's to the phone was simple. Once you load MP3's on the phone you can instantly start using them as your Ringtones. I have only tried a 2GB Kingston MicroSD card so far, but it works great. I would recommend this phone to anyone who likes to be connected and also to anyone who just likes to have the best of the best.

    "Good Phone" on by djlavell

Pros: Good size for smart phone, syncs with outlook

Cons: Memory Leak, Ringer Volume very low,

Summary: Over all the 8130 is a nice phone. The web browser gets the job done. The connection is fast for a phone. Most sites can be visited using the browser. This phone has more options that what I need. The phone volume is good, picks up more than what i thought. The suretype is very useful once you learn how to use it. To help keep your memory from getting low, close all programs by going through the menu button. Save all that you can to the sd card. The biggest bug of this phone is the memory leak, once the memory becomes low , call logs and text messages will be deleted. I also like that this phone will sync with your outlook address book and calendar.

The memory leak is a Research In Motion(RIM) problem not Sprint. Ths OS is mediocre and needs a patch for the memory leak.

Back your phone on your computer this a very useful feature.

"Great phone with great features" on by RobTheITGuyInPA

Pros: Great reception, features, and software

Cons: Rather short battery life, examining files on media card is a problem

Summary: This phone was designed by RIM and Sprint. It is a true masterpiece in terms of phones and it is the best Blackberry I've ever laid eyes on. The phone sports a very light and sleek design. The phone, though small, has a rather spacious keyboard that is very responsive. The phone gets amazing reception. The screen is bright and colorful. The camera takes reasonably good photographs. The speakerphone is loud and easy to understand. The phone has built-in GPS and is compatible with bluetooth GPS navigation devices too. But the best parts about this phone are all in the software! This phone has way more features and functionality than any Blackberry I have ever seen from any carrier. The software isn't locked down and crippled (ahem...AT&T and Verizon...and to a lesser extent...T-Mobile). The phone sports full multimedia functions and functions beautifully, even on 1X networks in terms of speed. Sprint TV, Sprint Music Store, and Sprint Navigation, as well as a Blackberry-enabled version of Sprint On Demand are all included. The trackball is a really nice added touch. Now for the downsides: The battery life is not that great. Examining files on the media card is a pain in the butt. Other than that, not much bad I can say about this really cool phone. Pair this together with the $99.99 per month Simply Everything for Blackberry plan (unlimited features and service) and the required $20.00 per month Blackberry Enterprise Server link, and you have the whole enchilada for next to nothing. The price for the phone and plan are a steal! To put it in a letter grade, I give this phone an A- on the overall.
