"ACTUAL REVIEW: Very solid-will keep many from defecting"
4.0 starson by waxspeaksPros: * Best sliding mechanism (super-smooth) I have ever felt in a mobile device
* For enterprise customers, gives smartphone & touch-screen functionality w/ legendary (ask Saudi Arabia) BlackBerry security
* Very good physical keypad
* Great battery lifeCons: * BlackBerry App Store is still behind the momentum leaders (Apple & Android) (but time will tell...perhaps it will be more business-focused)
* Form factor still on the large side (but still smaller than an EVO 4G, for example)Summary: REAL REVIEW- have actually used one
* Bottom line, I like the Torch a lot.
* Not super groundbreaking, but brings a refreshing touch to BlackBerry options.
- Believe this will be a big hit with enterprise customers as well as those who like the utility of the BlackBerry. (Security, battery life, enterprise-email-friendly plus enough of the new breed of smartphone functionality)
* BlackBerry 6 OS is a big step up
* Very solid feel typical of BlackBerry
* Best sliding mechanism (super-smooth) I have ever felt in a mobile device
* Responsive touchscreen
* Not as "cool" as Android or iPhone, but that's not typically part of a BlackBerry user's m.o.

I have a Captivate (with the non-functional GPS) and my wife has the Torch. I think the Cnet review is dead on. The Torch is sluggish and the screen sucks compared to the Captivate. On the other hand, the Torch works, imagine that. I love the industrial design of the Torch and the real keyboard is a huge plus. On the other hand, browsing for apps, in response to boneraq1 here, I can't even find a decent scientific calculator. Numerous free Android apps provide a scientific calculator with comprehensive units conversions, real time currency conversion, tips calc, etc. Nothing like this in BB or Crackberry for free, and maybe not even for $. Yes, Google Maps and The Weather Channel are there, but there is definitely a lot less on the free side, and it is influencing my choice, as I may send the Captivate back if they don't get the GPS working soon.

How many apps does one need in life-good call quality, good spker quality, good nav, few good games, and a few others but really how many people.

Nice of you to not mention the (very low-res) display at all. Thanks for including that in your "Real/Actual Review".
Also, you say this phone is "on the large side"?? Funny how that can be possible when the screen is so tiny.
Oh and what are your thoughts regarding the processing power?
