"Review erroneously states Torch does not have UMA"
3.5 starson by maartsenPros: Blackberry-with-everything, WiFi Calling, and some added frequencies the traveler will like.
Cons: For some, it's a Blackberry
Summary: Having had the TMO version of this handset only for a day, I don't yet have a comprehensive review (look for it in my Amazon reviews section in a month or so). I just would like to add the Torch 9810 does have UMA. Named "WiFi Calling" by TMO, UMA is more than just call completion over WiFi, it facilitates GPRS at WiFi speeds as well, meaning you have full (unmeasured) data capability once you're on a WiFi network as well. I am assuming this Torch was one of the phones that would have facilitated dual-network capability for the now dead T-Mobile / AT&T Wireless merger - it supports, like the Nokia "Astound", BOTH the T-Mobile and AT&T 3G networks, which run on incompatible frequency bands. With UMA, and international (even Japan!) 3G support, as well as TMO's 4G, there still seems to be a "secret" supply in T-Mobile stores, and I was able to snarf one in May 2012. Other than that, for the Blackberry aficionado, it gives you a solid Blackberry with a larger screen and touch screen functionality added. Works well with the Blackberry Playbook, too, which can use the Torch not only for tethering, but "invisible" to the carrier, data use over the Blackberry Bridge.
