The Bottom Line The HP iPaq 910c offers mobile professionals a well-stocked, messaging-centric smartphone, but it faces stiff competition from the likes of HTC, Samsung, and Motorola. Despite some design issues and a couple of missing features, the Motorola Droid is the most powerful and fastest Google Android device to date. It fully embraces the openness of the Android platform and offers Verizon customers a smartphone that certainly rivals the other touch-screen devices on the market. As the successor to the BlackJack series, the Samsung Jack brings a fresh look and some nice feature upgrades to make it one of AT&T's more solid and affordable messaging smartphones. However, we tend to favor the Nokia E71x's design. Despite some niggling design flaws and the lack of 3G support, the HP iPaq 510 Voice Messenger offers outstanding voice-command features as well as the enhanced productivity tools of Windows Mobile 6. Though its performance wasn't completely top-notch and we would prefer a more recent Android OS version, the HTC Droid Eris is a satisfying Android device that offers a nice contrast to the Motorola Droid. And you can't beat the price.
