"The perfect phone/handheld" on by phillabelle

Pros: Everything a mobile professional needs in the best all in one device on the market so far...

Cons: Lacks wifi and battery could have a longer life

Summary: If you are looking for an all in one device, don't look further. The Intel chip delivers, Windows is stable, the phone is well integrated to the PDA *********, the device has 2 expansion slots, GPS is easy to use, the HW6510 is easy to use as a Bluetooth modem, GSM / GPRS accounts are easy to set and the phone quality compares to the best handset on the market...The greatest gadget I have bought yet! Only a few elements would make this an even better machine...a longer battery life (which isn't bad, but still is not comparable to certain smartphones on the market like the P910i from Sony Ericsson), and Wifi (although if your carrier offers EDGE, it won't be a necessity).

"Good but Not Great" on by maximus06

Pros: Several integrated functionalities; ALMOST has all that one can desire in one handheld

    Cons: Very sluggish; Weak battery

Summary: I've been using this for almost a month now. While it has all the great features combined on one single unit I've been disappointed by its sluggish performance. It takes a few seconds for any application to load. The Palm Treo 650 is way superior in speed and performance. However if you are traditionally a Windows mobile user like I've been all along, you'll probably prefer hw6510 and might compromise on some slowness.

The battery performance of hw6510 is also weak and is not what hp claims it to be. I've followed HP's recommendations for maximizing battery efficiency but I get only 50% of its stated claims.

Except for these two drawbacks, everything else is fine. I won't call this as a great value for your money but just decent.

I won't call this unit as a must-buy but I'd rather recommend folks to wait a few months and see what HP comes up with next for improved performance and then make a decision to buy.

"Wow - Really Terrific" on by chigchig

    Pros: Genuine All in One

Cons: Limit the Number Simultaneously Open Apps

Summary: When I say all in one, here's how my 6510 is configured: phone, e-mail & Internet via GPRS, full featured PDA, easy to use MP3 player, excellent GPS device using TomTom software (which is excellent in its own right.)

    Discussing each point:

As a phone the call quality is excellent - the best I've ever experienced. Easy-to-use interface and nice integration with Pocket Outlook.

Messaging & Internet is good - probably nothing remarkable about Internet access since that's so dependent on my carrier (Cingular), but full blown messaging with POP, IMAP, and SMS capability. The keyboard's a snap to get around, too.

Obviously, it's a full blown PDA & with two expansion cards (SD and mini-SD). I now have more than 2GB of storage on this device!

MP3 player is based on Windows Media Player, which certainly isn't as slick as my iPod, but it gets the job done.

Finally, the GPS capability drives the TomTom software and hopefully, I'll never get lost again!

The downside is the necessity to pay attention to the number of apps you have open at the same time. No surprise here, but the device can bog or even require a soft re-set. Nothing gets lost in the re-set process except maybe a minute of your time every few days, which I consider a token imposition given everything else this device delivers.

    Nice job, hp!

"Disappointed in Technical Support, processing power, and engineering know how." on by WRR16

Pros: The unit looks great and is a good place holder, show piece.

Cons: It lacks the real processing power expected from a giant like HP who has been in this market for years with experiencein this area. Don't keep producing the same flavor in a different package.

Summary: I did purchase this unit and was very disapponted in the Technical Support Services. The units telephone quality is horroable to say the least. The ability to hone on the signal for use of the phone is very weak. The voice reception is only audible through the speaker.
I have noticed the sluggish application response as well. This unit for the money is very disappointing.
