"Packed features, but haunted because it is very slow, unstable, and no WIFI."1.5 starson by tp2wxc
Pros: GSM, Bluetooth, 1.3 Meg camera, great keyboard, SD and mini SD expansion slot
Cons: It's so SLOW, crashes all the time, no WIFI
Summary: This is my 6th PDA over the years and my 3rd HP PDA. The reason why I bough the 6515 is because I lost my previous HP PDA which I loved. I was blown away by the features it packed. Although it lacked integrated WIFI, I though it¡¦s not much of a deal to carry a SD WIFI and use the mini SD slot for my expansion. Then everything went sour after I bought the 6515. This thing is so slow. The average wait time for my PDA to respond in the Program menu was 12 seconds after the frequent hard crashes. Imagine yourself rushing in the airport, need to look up vital information and waiting for 12 seconds for the darn thing to respond. I could of powered on my laptop already.
It¡¦s not only the slow processing that will drive you nuts the device is totally unstable. I was using the device on a long distance call and found that I could not hang up the call! I had to push the little reset button on the bottom to force it to disconnect. Also, the device will just reset itself unexpectedly from time to time. Imagine working on a document or spreadsheet and then ¡§Bam!¡¨, it¡¦s all lost. Sounds like Windows 3.x again. There¡¦s more, you may have problems with video software on the 6515 due to its screen resolution. Videos playback will be chopped because the 6515 is 1:1 compared to others on the market. So you have to look for software just for the 6515.
I wanted to throw away this device the first week I bought it. HP had some wonderful PDA products in the past that I loved. I really don¡¦t understand why this produce came on the market. It¡¦s embarrassing and frustrating. More importantly, it really damages HP¡¦s brand.
I strongly advise those that is looking for a fully integrated PDA to avoid this device. Perhaps wait for the next version that has a faster processor. For me, this device¡¦s days are numbered. I¡¦m waiting for the day that I accidentally lose it on the plane again.
