"Do Not Buy It. You will be sorry...It's a very slow PDA. Invest your money somewhere else" on by zaidisyed
Pros: GPS, windows mobile 2005 and QWERTY key board.
Cons: Ver Slow. HP couldn't fix buzzing noise issue. HP's service is very slow.
Summary: I waited for a PDA with GPS and cell phone to come out for a very long time. And when Ipaq 6925 was released, I bought it right away from HP. I bought the 6945 because I wanted an unlocked phone.
Right out of the box, the PDA had noise issue. When I use PDA's built-in speaker to make calls, it has buzzing noise. I called HP and after 45 minutes of wait time, a rep came on the phone. I was told that I have to send it for repairs to them. No advance exchange like Cingular would do with it’s PDA phones
The first time around the box to send the phone back was never received. I had to call again and wait again for 30 minutes for HP rep to come on line. This time the box did arrive and I sent the Ipaq back.
I received the "repaired" Ipaq back in 3 days which was amazing. There was a note included with Ipaq which stated that HP changed the motherboard on the Ipaq. But I guess they never tested the Ipaq after changing the motherboard because the buzzing noise was still there. I called again, wait for another 20 minutes and now HP is going to send me a box one more time to repair the phone.
About the PDA, it's a very slow PDA. Most of the time, the PDA starts doing some background processing, even if I am not using it. The PDA cannot be used until the background process is finished. Another issue right of the box I have encountered is that the PDA is unable to answer calls most of the time. The phone rings and I press Answer button and the call won't be answered. The phone keeps on ringing until voice mail is takes over the call. That’s a major issue. The GPS works good but it takes a long time (some times more then 10 minutes) to get a fix on satellites.
I wish I had purchased this phone directly from Cingular. At least I would have been able to exchange it over the counter and/or return it. I would have not been stuck with it. So, if you are planning on buy it, do yourself a favor and don’t buy it. If you are still intent on buying it, then buy it from Cingular. At least you will be able to exchange/return it if you didn’t like it. -
"Just fracking awesome" on by rush-d
Pros: EDGE, WIFI, GPS and fast processor
Cons: Windows Mobile 5
Summary: HP has put together a good package for the ultimate roadwarrior. The support for other apps is amazing. I am using Tom Tom Navigator 5, Skype (over Wifi), Google Maps, SPB (Diary, Pocket Plus, Weather) etc and the phone can take it all. HP even added extra ram over its twin 6515.
I would recommend this if you use GPS, EMail, and other productivity apps. If you are a infrequent user, the interface will feel daunting - (silly WM5 though its much better than 2003) -
"I only bought it for the GPS, but I'm starting to regret" on by lucas chiew
Pros: GPS, qwerty keyboard
Cons: Too many to mention here
Summary: I bought this for its GPS about a year ago despite it's hefty price. I'm STILL paying for that mistake...
While the GPS is the only feature I fancy, the rest of the phone is pretty much crap.
The headset jack was spoilt within the first 3 months. With it's square screen, many software aren't compatible with it (even if it's compatible with the OS). Besides, the more software I installed, the more unstable it became. Eventually, i did a hard reset and didn't install anything extra. Even so, it still resets itself every once in awhile. The QWERTY keyboard, while it's a good addition, started to get unsensitive 6 months back. now i have to write everything on the lcd using the stylus. irritating.
Man... I think I shall be going back to the traditional handphones. -
"worked good at first... now a POS." on by dirtaddshp
Pros: gps/wifi and big screen
Cons: bluetooth compatibility, memory leaks, crashing the list goes on.
Summary: at first it was a GREAT phone. But now after owning it for 6-8 months its slowly falling apart.. now i dont throw my phone out of moving cars or anything.. i dont think its EVER been dropped. But it seems windows mobile 5.0 didnt intragrate well with this phone. Im having to restart the phone 1-2 a day now and i have hard reseted it half a dozen times in the time i have owned it!.
Bluetooth seems to have trouble holding its connection. It will connection from the device and then you have to restart the phone (btw it takes 2-3 minutes to fully restart!) My old PC starts faster!
Its had GPS a few times too but nothing crazy. And now its starting to drop calls. I am gonna drop this phone like its hot!
dont waste your time or money. -
"Not a daily driver" on by thecompound
Pros: Nice Screen
Cons: Reliability, bluetooth performance
Summary: I would not recomend this phone, bulky, slow, sketchy bluetooth. Patchy service, HP's core business is not cellular service, too many features and useless software slow this beast to a crawl.
