"HTC 8XT Finally!"on by KennethJC
Pros Processor is great, no hiccups, apps load quickly
Extremely easy to use and windows OS is simple to comprehend
WiFi download is excellent
Screen is very sharp, great colors and good contrast
Cons Problem with text message repeats
Speakers are above average
Summary I'm really loving my new HTC 8XT Windows 8 phone. I am finding a few anomalies however. First off, I can't charge my phone on a Windows 7 machine, which is a problem at work. Disappointed there are no drivers written for W7. I was able to get it working using an old USB hub that didn't install correctly, so the power is simply passing through the device to the phone. Not ideal obviously, but it's working at least. HTC really should have been a bit more Windows prepared, and had drivers installed on the Microsoft Update site for all supported Windows versions. I don't think anyone would have cared about sync, but easy access to folders on the phone, and the ability to charge it on any Microsoft supported Windows operating system is a no brainer in my opinion.Edit:
The next problem I had was text message repeats. My wife sent me a text message, and it then proceeded to send the same message over 100 times in the past 18 hours. It seems to have subsided, but we'll see. Sprint claims this is due to their LTE network which is just coming online. It apparently happens to all LTE phones (irrespective of mfg#, although the tech guy was surprised when I told him the volume of repeat text messages. I've noticed iPhones have a few quirky LTE issues as well though, so I guess it's probably right.
Even though I'm not a real big app guy, Windows definitely needs more developers to jump on board. I think users would also like more control over tiles. For now, you pick a global theme, and all the tiles follow that color. A couple of apps let me tinker with the tile color, but for the most part the tiles are all the same color. A little boring.
The WiFi download is excellent, and let me connect on either a 2.4ghz or 5ghz network. I found a little network speed test app and the downloads were as high as 75mbs on my FIOS connection! I was completely impressed when I saw this stat. The uploads however are a mystery to me. I don't know much about how uploads work on a cell phone, so I expected the same blistering performance as the downloads. What I got was shockingly poor, at about 2.4mbs-3mbs, with some packet loss. I don't know if this is normal or not, because my home connection is 10 times what I'm getting out of the phone on my uploads.
My 8XT phone actually downloads faster than my laptop. With 75mbs peak download performance, I was expecting at least 35mbs on the uploads uploads. As I said, I don't know if this is typical of all phones though. I've never checked network performance on a cell phone before. I will ask HTC if slow uploads are normal on my phone though, just in case there's a real issue with it. Either way though, I can live with it I suppose. I like the phone that much.
Besides the above issues, which I don't consider major, I absolutely love this phone. I have been wanting a Windows 8 phone since October of last year. I almost bailed on Sprint to get one actually, but I stuck it out. Out of all the Windows 8 phones on the market, I think this phone is at the top of the market, and has a great price. We'll see if it holds up as well as my other HTC did, which I had for nearly 4 years

Pros WP8, BoomSound, MicroSDxc, 4G LTE, UNLIMITED DATA FROM SPRINT, the soft plastic feels great
Cons 8 GB internal memory, NOT THE RESOLUTION (surprisingly), microSD slot was hard to find
Summary I was a bit iffy buying this phone on the first day because no media outlet even had their hands on it, and the color is described as California Blue but looks kinda purple. I also was a little timid because the resolution was WVGA, but when i got to the store, I couldn't tell the resolution was so low, it looks just about up to par with the s4! Plus, I was waiting for sprint to get the windows phone for almost a year. When I got I tested out the boomsound (w/ beats) immediately. yes, the beats amplifier isnt the best, but for a phone, the sound quality is AMAZING. And because it's windows phone 8, the phone runs extremely smoothly even with 10 apps open, on the 1.4 GHz processor. The one bad thing was that I spent about three hours calling sprint trying to figure out the where the microSD card slot is (you slide the back w/ the HTC logo up). THIS PHONE HAS EXCEEDED MY EXPECTATION, AND I AM SUPER HAPPY THAT I GOT IT.
Pros This phone is amazing! I haven't been able to recreate any of the problems that "professional" reviewers have mentioned. The phone looks, feels, sounds, and works perfectly. The batter life is way better than my Galaxy S2. Apps never force close.
Cons I guess the screen resolution could be better but this phone only cost me %80 so I can't really complain.
Summary I have been an Android user for many years. I was looking for a change and I would never subject myself to the highly overrated iphone, so Windows Phone was my choice. I have not been disappointed! This is a great phone. Some people complain about the color, but the longer you own it the more "blue" it looks. The WP8 OS is just amazing. So smooth and fast. Everything looks and feels great. The performance is so much smoother and more natural than Android. Yes the screen is not a 1080p but unless you plan on playing Halo 3 all day on your phone then it probably won't matter to you. The battery is FAR superior to my Galaxy S2. I was charging that phone 2 to 3 times per day. The 8XT I am charging maybe once a day and sometimes not even that often. The APP store has every single app that I've looked for and all of them work better than their Android counterpart. I haven't had one app "force close" yet, and that was a daily occurrence on Android. Anyone who says there aren't enough apps on Windows Phone must be looking for the most obscure stupid app that no one wants anyway. Buy this phone. Spread the word about Windows OS and how great it is. You can't go wrong with this phone!
Pros the ffjlf fkshte kshfertt haidf d
Cons this is a nice phone
