"Good email & multimedia phone" on by aaronlws
Pros: Design, 2mp camera, micro SD, WiFi, push email, audio player
Cons: 3G only good on AT&T, no spell check, 3rd party app issues, small keys
Summary: I like this phone quite a bit. It's got push email, 2MP camera, WiFi and a sleek, light compact design. The device feels good in your hand, both to type on and to use as a phone. They keys are a small, but I've become used to them. I am using the push email through Microsoft exchange for work with no problems at all. I also have my yahoo mail hooked up. The device syncs wirelessly with my calendar, tasks, contacts and email (no notes though).
As a former Blackberry user, there is an adjustment to the Windows OS. While it allows you to download a myriad of software that does a bunch of different things, the navigation in general is a bit nebulous. Certain things take a bit too many clicks to get to and the software hangs here and there (despite the fast processor).
In addition, the HTC s630 (as oppossed to some other versions / models / makes) has a problem with certain 3rd party app's. It does not allow proper text entry into those app's, rendering them essentially useless. I've got a bunch that do work, but many that do not. This may eventually be fixed by HTC, but they currently don't even show this phone on their site (as of 8/23/07), which is a bit disconcerting.
Also, while the phone is 3G, only on certain bands...in the states, only for AT&T (not on T-Mobile's proposed 3G bands). Running this on 3G eats the battery life quite a bit.
Finally, I was quite surprised to find out that the phone does not come with built a built in spell checker nor the ability to copy and paste text. There are 3rd party app's for copy and paste (I found two...one works for me, the other does not) and maybe for spell check (but I haven't found one yet).
OK, one more thing. As this phone is not supported by any US carrier, you are mostly on your own for support and setting the phone up. If you are not up for a bit of a technie, geek challenge, this is not the phone for you. -
"Great phone" on by pguarisma
Pros: VERY FAST! , Wi-Fi, Windows Mobile 6
Cons: Speakerphone not very loud
Summary: Heard and read a lot of good things about the Dash so I got this phone unlocked about 2 weeks ago to replace an old MPx 220. It has a 400MHz processor so Windows Mobile 6 enjoys the speed. Mobile Office is excellent. Being able to use AT&Ts 3G is great as surfing is much faster. Surfing on Wi-Fi is even better of course. Keyboard is just right size (for my fingers anyway). The camera is very good and video is also good quality. Oh and yes...it is a very good phone too. Calls are very clear even in elevators. The volume/slider control on the right-hand side takes some getting used to. The speakerphone is not very good but a considerable improvement over what I had before.

"Great upgrade to the Dash/S620/Excalibur" on by t2technology
Pros: 3G, Faster Processor, Better camera, Streaming Media (youtube), microSDHC
Cons: Speaker is not as loud as the Dash/S620/Excalibur
Summary: This phone is a great upgrade to my Dash/S620/Excalibur. I was over the fact that the Dash was so slow. The camera starts almost instantly compared to around 10 sec for the Dash. This phone also accepts 4GB microSD cards as opposed to the 2GB limit on the Dash/S620/Excalibur. With a simple driver hack (SDHC777) the S630 can accept 6GB cards as well. Over all this phone is much faster and a great update to the HTC line. I have not tested 3G as T-Mobile has not lit up the network in Chicago yet. However, I am ready to go when they do. My only gripe is that the speakerphone is not as loud, this won't be a problem when you use bluetooth however. I have the cardo scala S2 headphones and I was able to listen to streaming media while mowing the lawn. I didn't even have the headphones turned up all the way either. Overall it is awesome.

"Stick to its predecessor: HTC Excalibur s620" on by mrattazzi
Pros: Has G3, more memory, better camera
Cons: No support in US, full of bugs
Summary: I used to be a proud owner of an HTC Excalibur s620. It worked perfectly and smoothly, without a single bug or problem. Sadly, I smashed it and had to buy a new phone. I decided to go for the HTC Cavalier s630, a supposedly newer, better version of the same phone. What a disappointment! The new design sucks, all the confort and pleasant feel of my old Excalibur gone. More worrying is the fact that the Cavalier is full of bugs, all the applications I have run on it seem to have irritating and persistent bugs which my Excalibur never had (and I ran the same games and apps!!). Battery life is less than a day when the phone is on 3G, so I has to switch it back to GSM. To top it off, after the first month of use, the "call" and "end" keys are not working anymore. Called HTC customer-service but this model is not covered in the US. They told me I can try to get it fixed in the UK. Stick to the Excalibur for now, at least until all these problems get fixed!!!!!

"Good Smartphone" on by junulriko
Pros: good screen, unique design, WM6 OS, fast processor, light
Cons: lack of flexibility for home screen setting
Summary: I am using a Softbank version of HTC cavalier, the X02HT. This unit has very flexible OS version, Japanese-English language changeable without flashing. Screen is improved compared with my hermes and o2 atom life before. Light and easy to carry. Negative points as of now, closing applications needs task manager everytime and the Softbank OS I am using not much flexible in setting home screen compare with hermes and atom life.
