crossover from wifi to 3g is really bad...Summary: I'll start with I've had this phone for over a month. Literally got it the day it came out so I'm not a day or two in and possibly trying to validate my purchase...
I'm a working professional, not a complete techy. my last phone was a blackberry storm and this phone was like going from a walkman to an ipod in comparison, so in that way I am enamored with this phone. I need a phone I can speak to clien'ts on and won't drop calls or sound like I'm in a submarine and one that has good email functionality.
I'm more of a PC than a mac as it were and I don't love apple. When iphone came out on Verizon though (I live in San Francisco) I had to decide btw this phone and the iphone 4 for my criteria. the verizon sales guy told me immediately to go with the droid which frankly surprised me and I appreciated that they weren't pushing the iphone as hard as I thought they would.
I like talking to people on this phone and it seems to work better than most in that regard in that I can hear them clearly and vice versa, it's also comfortable enough to talk for a while without your ear fealing the squared sides of a smartphone.
The email is kinda eh. I don't know if that's hotmail or the connection but the mail software that allows me to connect to Hotmail does not update very frequently or very well in that I'll get email on my computer / over the web and then 20 minutes later i'll get it here which isn't really acceptable and should be improved.
This may be part of another gripe whihc is whne you have your wifi turned on, if there has been the slightest slightest signal it will try so hard to hold onto it and then if you're out of range you physically need to go into the settings and turn it off os you can use the internet and then back on again later. It should have a better signal meeter and just go with whichever is stronger, b/c honestly the 3g is fast enough it's hard for me to tell what is what and I've started just using the 3g so i don't have to turn off the wifi with 4 or 5 taps...
The case material I like. I dropped it once already on a hardwood floor, no scratches and no issues. If you do need to get to the battery or the card though good luck because it's difficult to get off w/o a screwdriver and even then you're likely to scratch or put a nic in it.
I would say you do need to charge this device nightly so be prepared but will get you into the next day depending on use without.
Overall I'm happy with the phone and how well it runs (never crashed) and how quick and responsive it is. I have recommended it to others as an iphone alternative.
