"Low Batt life? Run ATK..." on by spiike32
Pros: pure awesomeness and trumps current iphone on every single level. Next Iphone however will be a better competitor with front facing camera and faster processor.. but still this phone rocks. CNET needs to filter some of the BS reviews...
Cons: Pictures although 8 mp is still a bit grainy. Need an app/customization so the photo is taken by touchscreen or volume rocker. Center button causes phone to move when taking pics = blurry pics.
Summary: For those complaining about low battery life, I bet you have opened several apps... and didn't fully close out of them. Mine had all my apps running at once (unknowingly) and battery life was 4 hrs. If you run Advanced Task Killer, you can close your instances of apps... read the manual. Batt life is much better now.

I never use apps like skype, HTC music, CityID, and others that came pre-installed- yet they are always open. I have force closed them, several times, only to find them running again, less than five minutes later. Verizon and HTC should allow the end user to choose which programs we want to keep, or at least let us choose whether individual programs should be allowed to open themselves. Or a second battery that comes standard with the phone. I also notice that if I have the phone syncing to my computer via the USB, and then remove it, most of the apps start running again, so maybe others would be interested to know that checking ATK after disengaging the USB cable may help them.

I compared a day using the app to a day without. No difference in battery life at all. Just makes you feel like you're doing something useful, but battery life still horrendous. Have not had a phone with such awful battery life, and I'm a very light user. 12 hours max. Have to take an extra cord charger with me to work. Seriously.

First let's explain "fully turning off apps". For instance if you use the camera, Google Maps or whatever, then turn the apps "off", they're really not off. They are still running (and sucking the battery dry) until you use another app like "Task Killer" to "kill" them - after you have turned them "off". As far as the camera, I would rather have a 1mp photo that is clear rather than an 8mp (or 100mp) the is grainy and blurry, to use your terms. I am not condemning you or your review I just think as American consumers we should demand better. How many times do we call customer service about a device and they ask "have you restarted it?". If we were told that about our refrigerator or our car, we would return them immediately and demand it be fixed properly. But we seem to just take it...like 8mp photos that are grainy and blurry - and a battery that won't last all day.

FYI: Seidio makes a 1750 mAh battery which is a drop-in replacement for the stock battery. I highly recommend it- My Incredible was making it to the evening on yellow all the time, which made me nervous. I switched to the 1750 battery, and I'm still in the green with moderate use, and yellow only with heavy usage. I can even skip/forget the nightly recharge routine, typically, and throw it on the charger at work the next day. Very nice!

You'd lose. Nothing was running, and all apps closed manually. My battery life was poor, and death occurred at 4-6 hours, no app running, no calls. In all fairness, Verizon signal was mediocre where I was, so there was definitely a lot of signal searching.

Exactly you have to turn off WiFi and Bluetooh and any apps that you are not using, Even with my BB Curve i have to charge it every night it and it is no way as powerful as this device. So many people leave especially WiFi and Buetooth all the time and those are major battery killers.
Plus give the phone a few charges and it will last longer. My BB's were the same way.
Battery life with the HTC seems about the same as any smartphone. Actually it is amazing it lasts as long as it does. Only a few years ago the specs of an average laptop weren't as impressive! -
You are right on the money with this review. Advanced Task Killer is great! You would be surprised how many apps can end up still running on your phone. Old apps are the worst for this since many of them are, from what I've read, looking for you to press a "hang up" (you know, the little red phone button from other phones) button. Since this phone is all touchscreen, that button doesn't exist. Run ATK and select the apps you want to kill, and BAM! Gone. Battery lasts a LONG time now. Better than my 8 month old BlackBerry I had before.
Phone is great for features and speed. My wife has one too and she has never had a "smart phone" of any kind, but she loves the built in navigation, all of the apps, and the quality of the phone. We've taken some photos and videos and were impressed with the quality. Just wish that the lens didn't stick out so far where it could get scratched. A phone case helped with that.
Again, we love our Incredibles. Get the ATK and you'll love it too. -
i just discovered that if you press and hold the touchscreen on the item you want the camera to focus on, it will autofocus and take the picture--no more blurry pics.

Those complaining about battery life, myself included, are probably used to charging a non-smart phone once every two-three days. The built in task killer is pretty good on this phone, however you have to stay on top of it. ATK is great for people who are otherwise unaware.

Be careful in using advanced task killer (it will just free memory in most cases - and overuse of it may decrease battery).
Better way is to tune your apps or buy extra battery.

I used ATK on my Moto Droid. Switched to Apollo Task Killer. Free and far superior. IMHO.
