  • "I switched from the Palm Pre (which I loved)"

Pros: 4G wireless hotspot screams! The EVO has a lot of features that the Pre didn't have- like the ability to watch online video. Has a bigger screen and better hardware than the Pre. I really like voice search (Vlingo).

Cons: There is just no way that the android OS will ever match the elegant simplicity of WEB OS (PRE operating system) WEB OS is better at e-mail, multitasking, people search and many other things.

Summary: I have mixed emotions about the switch, probably leaning towards the EVO because of the hotspot capability, which I use for work. In case you cannot tell, I really liked my PRE (which my son now uses and loves). I thought the PRE hardware could have been better, but it was not bad. The EVO has a great solid feel. Heavier and larger than the PRE but more solid than even the iPhone, which I liked but did not love (because of AT&T).

I hope that now that WEB OS is owned by HP that they will couple it into a solidly built phone like the EVO, which would be the best of all possible phones. I can't wait for the WEB OS based iPad clone!

The EVO is a battery hog. The PRE was a little better, but also not great. Both are better than the iPhone because you can carry a spare battery!
