  • "Great phone for first time users"
    on by VramTheG

Pros Nice screen, roomy keyboard, solid build

Cons A little lite in memory

Summary I bought this for my mother and it is a great smartphone for first timers. It is a little lite on memory but still more than enough. Good phone for the price.

  • "youtube crashes every time!"
    on by budjones99

Pros better than a "dumb" phone

Cons youtube crashes longer than 8 minutes always crashes!

    no way to play .pls

Summary HTC has known since last month that the Evo Shift 4g won't play youtube/google videos longer than 7-8 minutes, according to Sprint. Still there is no date set for when the fix will be released, again according to Sprint. So if you want to watch anything on google video or youtube that is longer than 7-8 minutes, you'll have a better experience with andrio's leading competitor. Imagine that: HTC has somehow been able to make an Android phone that is incompatible with youtube/google video.

Ok...problem sorted out...I'm not tech savvy so I didn't understand that the problem wasn't the phone but with the youtube app. Look on Android market and you'll see everybody has problems with the app. The reason I thought the problem was the responsibility of HTC was because that's what Sprint tech support told me. Today I figured out how to remedy the problem. First you clear all data from the youtube ap. Then use youtube's desktop site and when it asks what to use to play the video select Internet. Oh...if only somebody who was at least semigeeky had offered to share how to resove a problem with viewing video on teh worl'd most popular internet portal...what a nice thing that might have been. Nice is always better than Rf-strong, for sure.

  • "Great touch screen phone"
    on by 16ariciaga

Pros great phone with fast internet and a phone that you could use for hours and never get bored with all the apps, music, games etc..It is also the most reliable and as long as you don't drop hard it is a great phone

Cons The phone dies out pretty quick and if you are a person who doesn't charge there phone to often i wouldn't recommend getting this and also when the phone slides it is a kind of akward sliding phone and just does not slide well

Summary Great phone if you are a teenager and great phone if you get bored easily..The phone is almost limitless to the things you can do and i would highly recommend it

  • "Functional, fun, reliable"
    on by EPStern

Pros Does everything, even things I'd not thought of--making it both incredibly useful and entertaining; has not had any problems (so far).

Cons Biggest issue: switching between apps is not intuitive or simple.

Summary I love, love, love this phone. I've only had it a few weeks but I'm hooked. My last phone was a Palm Pre, which I really liked but I was constantly having hardware issues, and the limited number of apps was unsatisfying. The Evo does everything I want it to do-it is great fun and, so far, has been really reliable. I can even sync it with my PC, which was not possible with the Pre! Only a few things I'd like to see changed. First, it'd be great if the LED would blink when charging when there is a notification. I'd also like to be able to easily switch between apps that are running (making things like copying/pasting from one to the other much easier). The auto-dialer isn't as friendly as the Pre-I can't use the entire keyboard for this. And I'd love to be able to mark a bunch of emails as "read" all at once, rather than one-by-one. All of these are minor annoyances, though. The phone works great and offers much more than I can ever imagine needing. P.S. I haven't noticed an issue with the battery but I have chargers everywhere and got in the habit years ago of carrying an extra battery so I don't tend to notice battery issues as much as other folks do.

  • "Awesome, fast, reliable phone"
    on by sovereignofsin

    Pros Super fast
    Beautiful display
    Physical keyboard
    Lots of free apps

    Cons battery life
    placement of volume rocker

Summary I previously had the HTC Hero which was slow, had a terrible battery life, and was all around a bad phone. The HTC Evo Shift 4G is amazing! I live in a town with bad 4G service (we're actually the smallest down in the US with 4G I hear) but the 3G is really good so I don't mind. the Evo Shift gets great reception, way better than my Hero. I love the Google apps, a big plus and the phone's physical keyboard is amazing. The only thing I wish they'd done differently is make the virtual and physical keyboards the same as far as extra functions of each key goes, it'd make it nice if you tend to switch back and forth like I do.

This phone is fast. Awesomely fast if you're used to a lower end phone like I was.And the touch screen is ultra sensitive and very bright.

However, I hate, HATE where they put the volume rocker. For me I keep pushing it with my fingers while I'm using the keyboard. Just a bad place for it, but I understand that is where everyone is used to a volume rocker being, it's would have been nice however if they'd put it on the other half of the slider.

Over all this phone is great, I'm totally in love with it. If you don't mind having no 4G if you don't live in a big city, then this would be the phone for you!
