Pros Clear screen
Pinch to view all windows
Micro USB charger
Cons Freezes constantly
Receives 3-5 of the same text
Sometimes thinks the message you sent is a new text
Randomly shuts off
Fails to load webpages on first try
Lacks cell phone basics (detailed below)
Responds poorly to touch
Summary This is without a doubt the worst phone I have ever owned. While the touch screen is beautifully clear and works via capacitance (instead of pressure which causes phones to break quickly), it responds quite poorly to touch. I often have to tap 3 or 4 times before the phone recognizes what I am trying to do which leads me to...This phone freezes every five minutes. Occasionally it jump-starts itself back into a normal working mode, but I frequently have to remove the battery in order to get it responding again. The phone also has a tendency to shut itself down and restart.
With regards to texting, the keyboard is incredibly slow to respond. I have more than once typed a full sentence and waited 3 minutes for it to appear on the screen. Like other reviewers have said, it repeats incoming messages 3 to 5 times. I thought this was a problem with AT&T, but it seems to be one with the phone as it also frequently reads "New Message" and highlights the message I have just sent to someone else!
The internet, while full HTML, sucks. Most of the time, the webpage comes up with an error the first time around and I have to refresh to get the site to load. This happens with everything from facebook to gmail to cnn. It's ridiculous.
It also sacrifices style for cell phone basics. Since my old Nokia bricks, I've had a scientific calculator on my phone, but the HTC Freestyle lacks this (frustrating for a math and science teacher!) It also lacks a memo pad which many of my previous phones have had.
I've also had a strange problem with this phone not mentioned in other reviews...but more than once it has been sitting on my kitchen table and has started calling people of its own accord. Very strange.
Overall, this phone is not worth the money or the frustration. I would not recommend this phone to anyone.
Pros similar to a smartphone without the extra data plan
Cons many---see below
Summary I want to like this phone, I do. Especially since the choices for non-smart phones at AT&T leave much to be desired (all of them get poor ratings). I think the Freestyle is a great idea, and would be an awesome phone if not for so many issues:
-duplicates of texts (anywhere from 3 to 7)
-phone often shuts off for no reason, and won't come back on until the battery is removed and put back in
-"Oops...system error. restarting" comes up on the screen about everyday, sometimes in the middle of calls
-when on one call, you cheek can often dial another
I'm bummed out that this phone doesn't work. I even tried replacing it, and experienced all of these problems (again) within the first few hours of having it.
Pros Crystal Clear Screen
Comes with USB cable
Cons Messages either don't send or you get like a million of the same text from one person
Not too many free apps
Summary I am quite disappointed to be honest, I also do not see why others gave it 5 stars. I suggest you don't buy this phone unless you want to be frustrated 24/7. I refuse to ever buy a droid again. I thought this phone would be the one till as soon as I opened the box and turned it on, the phone froze every now and again and I'm like wow can't it at least pretend to be good the first day. I like how it looks just not how it acts
Pros Haven't found any yet.
Cons Locks up constantly.
throws the error message "oops. System Error occurred. Restarting" OVER AND OVER.
Signal quality is horrid. I could be better signal running thread between soup cans. This phone is THE suck!
The camera blurs every picture, there is
Summary The HTC Freestyle is the worst of the worst. HTC should be ashamed of this sorry excuse for a phone. I paid over a hundred dollars for this phone, and it isn't worth a plug nickle. DO NOT BUY AN HTC FREESTYLE. Unless of course you are a glutton for punishment. Then by all means, go for it.The HTC Freestyle sucks even more now than it did 20 minutes ago when I posted the review.
