"Eradicated my fears of a touch screen phone!" on by WVEngineer
Pros: TouchFLO 3D
Includes 2 styli
Very nice screen resolution
Easy navigation
Nice sleek, compact size (fits in my back pocket just as well as my old razr)Cons: Battery life
XT9 can be frustrating
Has a tendency to freeze
Not very customizableSummary: I needed to upgrade to a smart phone, but was leery about buying a touch screen phone (not to mention a touch screen phone that didn't have a keyboard, but was SOLELY touch screen). Although I have used some friends' iPhones and was really impressed with the interactiveness of the machine, I do not like the large size of the iPhone. When using a touch screen phone frequently, I assumed that I would get easily frustrated when trying to type a text message or email. When I walked into AT&T and saw the HTC Pure, I fell in love with it. It has a beautiful design and the size is just right. I love the ease of the TouchPRO 3D and the Opera Browser is amazing. I was pleased to see that it does comes with a stylus which comes in handy when changing settings. I still get frustrated when I text...the XT9 will replace what I have typed with another word. There is a "replace" feature that I have turned off, but to no avail...it is still happening. Also, it seems as though I type faster than the phone, it cannot keep up and my words get all jumbled up. The battery life on my phone just plain sucks, but that is manageable. The sound in the music player is great! My biggest complaint is that sometimes I have looked at the time and realized that the clock is wrong!! I am not sure how this could be, but it has happened several times. It does always end up fixing itself, but still, that is a major con in my book.
Overall, I am very happy with my choice. The HTC Pure has settled my anxiety about touch screen phones. -
"Disappointing, disappointing, disappointing." on by delifitz
Pros: Phone desigin is nice. The way that the programs SHOULD work is good.
Cons: Nothing works. I don't know if the problem is the phone or Windows Mobile 6.5. The freezes are maddening. I also find that I turn the ringer off accidentily during calls because of the location of the volume controls.
Summary: This phone has proven olmost deadly. My husband collapsed at home one morning and when I tried to dial 911, the phone froze. I had to dig my husband's phone out of his pocket (NOT an HTC) to call emergency services. The AT&T service techs keep telling me to uninstall any applications that I've installed. Which I do - sometimes that helps, sometimes it doesn't. Bottom line is that I'm SUPPOSED to be able to load software. Why would there be a feature to install applications if they know it will break the phone? I know that Windows Mobile 6.5 is new so I figure there might be updates out there. Problem is that I've invested hours in trying to find where to initiate windows updates with no success. I called AT&T and they couldn't find it either. Excellent :/ Bottom line is that, while the phone is sleek and has great features, none of them work reliably. I would not recommend this to anyone. In fact, this phone could prove deadly to its owner or someone you love.

"iPhone convert I love this Phone.....HTC Great Job!" on by spyceedc
Pros: Windows Mobile
Battery Life
Size
USBCons: Sluggish OS at Times (Could be ATT Bloatware)
No Good Cases YetSummary: I was on my 2nd iPhone and moved over to this device once it was available. My main reason was for battery life and size. So far I like this phone very much.

"Superb phone if you can handle it" on by sociojeje
Pros: small but has everything. what else do you need?
Cons: at&t basic rom sucks. you have to go through sim unlocker, hard spl, and custom rom. after this journey, you have to face optimization which include a bunch of registry edit.
Summary: Though i've been using ppc(wm)for about 10 years, It still gives me many problems. However, once you figure it out, it works like a charm.
First of all, don't stick to at&t rom. It's just horrible. To switch, you have to go through a lot but worth it.
Once you can see the difference, you don't envy your friend's iphone anymore. Well, the cpu isn't fast and it's not good if you want to play a video game on the phone.
However, if you are looking for a multi-tasking device with everything, this is a way to go.
However, I warn you. If you are not familiar with computer, go for something else. If you want to try, pain awaits you. However, at the end of your journey, you'll say "viola!" -
