  • "There is a way to turn 4G off!"
    3.0 stars

Pros: - Don't have the phone yet but might get one when I can upgrade in May

Cons: -I've heard the battery is awful, there is an extended battery, turning 4G off may help

Summary: To turn 4G off Dial: *#*#4636#*#* > phone information > Scroll down and Select preferred network type to be "CDMA auto (PRL)" rather than the default "CDMA + LTE/EvDo auto

I got the phone about 3 weeks ago, full price. I have to say not bad, I'll keep the 3 stars I had put up before I got the phone. Turning 4G off does help with battery. I get about 10 hours with moderate use.
    Pros:
    - Very fast transitions/loading times.
    - I really do like HTC Sense

    Cons:
    - Camera is lacking a bit in my opinion.
    - I wish I could charge while the kickstand is out
-Speaker not very loud (even with kickstand out)
    -No physical camera button

I will be selling this phone to get either the Droid Bionic or the Galaxy S2 (if/when it comes to Verizon)

YOu probably already know this, but if you put the phone vertical, you can charge it while the kickstand is open.

@gbloch57 I obviously meant charging while watching videos with kickstand out... retards

may firmware update to alleviate battery issue almost entirely. Charging with the kickstand out? Turn it upright stupid!

Theres an app called "4g Switch" Cost $.99 buy you tap it and it gives you the options same as dialing the number. So I tap and it switches between 4g and 3g. You may already know this

I voted down because you gave a mediocre rating to a phone you don't have.

Nice work giving this tip to new buyers of the Thunderbolt. I'm one. The battery is just awful! I've been tempted to return it several times but I resisted because the iPhone won't be upgraded until June, and I needed a phone. Also, when iPhone goes to 4G, it may have a similar battery problem.

Read the replies guys, I got the phone and reviewed it in a reply, I can't change the review, I fully charged the battery and got 6 hours out of it, thats awful... not a rumor. I can get just under a day with 4G turned off when I don't need it

How can you review a phone you don't have? Quit writing rumors as fact. The battery life is ok. Not great, but not terri Le. Much better than my EVO

Helpful info, but this is not the place to post it. I'd rather see real reviews from people who have actually used the device. On what do your base your 3 star review? Why is it a "pro" that you don't have the phone, but may get it in May? Most people follow the rules, but the few that don't ruin things for everyone.

buffy247... make me, and hokie14 4G isn't available everywhere yet so why drain battery life if you can't even use it. I just got the phone yesterday afternoon, full price. With a whole day of using it I have to say not bad, not good, but not bad, I'll keep the 3 stars. Turning 4G off does help with battery. I got about 9 hours with moderate use. Very fast transitions/loading times. Camera is lacking a bit in my opinion. I'll try this out for a week but I'll probably end up returning this. and wait for the Droid Bionic. Oh and I know your going to try and be smart and say if your not in 4G why buy a 4G phone, and my answer to that is to lock in the data pricing, as Verizon has said they will eventually go into tiered pricing for data

you don't RATE a phone in order to tell people how to improve battery life. This is the place to REVIEW the phone, not try and create a thread in a forum about how to turn off 4G.
And if it's a 4G phone, you buy it so that it runs 4G on Verizon's expanding network. Not to turn it off! If people don't like the battery life, that contributed to the rating that they give the phone. YOU, however, have admitted to not owning the phone, and therefore you have no reason to post a review that negatively affects the rating of this product.

I'm not reviewing this phone obviously, I'm giving people a way to improve their battery life. People who are looking to buy a phone read these reviews, I don't want people to be turned away from this phone by the fact that the battery is horrible and there is no way turn turn off 4G. In the video she says she doesn't think there is a way to do that, when in fact there is... I do not like dumb people.
