"Could'a been'a contend'a" on by jack_c27513
Pros: ? Numerous features
? TouchFlo3D interface,
? Form factor/appearance
? Outstanding resistive touch sreen.Cons: ? DOG SLOW
? Battery life is poor
? WM components of the interface are dated and clunky
? Difficult text entry (due to slow performance)Summary: I ordered this online from Verizon hoping for a little mobile nirvana that I so desperately crave. The FedEx package arrived the next day in typical unadorned Verizon white.
To correct the typo above (end of the 5th paragraph) I wanted to say that the G1 which also has aweful batterly life was not as bad.
It has all the right features, but as Bonnie said above it is slow. Actually that is an understatement, it crawls! Doing everyday things like texting, email and playing music bring the phone to its knees.
In fear of warranty cancellation, I desperately applied a few registry hacks and a few tuning tricks that I read around the web, which helped a little. You can also turn off TF3D which also helps, but it is still very slow to multi-task even on the basic (and horrendous) WM GUI. I never did actually crash, but let me tell you I thought it did often.
Post tweak, TouchFlo 3D actually became somewhat responsive, but still, anytime the phone is asked to do more than one thing at a time, everything grinds to a halt. Frequently when that happened, I would just put the phone down, take a breath, and pick it back up when it sorted out, which it always did.
If you use the phone just for calling the battery isn't bad. The minute you start surfing, emailing, texting or just in general fooling around with it, you can literally watch the battery meter fall. So while the talk/standby numbers are probably accurate, if you actually use the phone as your PC as I do, forget it. Pack your charger and a spare battery. For comparison, my son has the unlocked G-Phone which
For positives, this has the best resistive touch screen ever. The screen registers slides and swipes (when the OS can keep up) as easily as that fruit based phone. It doesn?t have multi-touch, but employs several other tricks keep it interesting.
In summary, this goes back to Verizon today. I'm back on my trusty but crap-tastic LG Dare, which has the worst touch screen ever, but otherwise, works great as a phone and text platform.
I really wanted to like this phone, but in the end it really let me down.

"3 phones in 2 weeks." on by JayKup
Pros: Nothing. I cannot say one good thing about this phone. Wait, I take that back, it is a good paper weight.
Cons: Touch screen stopped responding, replaced with insurance. Touch screen stopped responding, replaced with insurance. The one i just got is a re-manufactured and it has keyboard issues, and the screen is tinted funny and is barely responsive.
Summary: This phone is totally worthless. It can't stand up to daily use, which believe it or not is not my biggest problem with the phone. The thing is slower than molasses running uphill in winter. There is a good 2 sec delay between each screen when navigating though anything. The internet is so slow i don't even use it...it is easier for me to drive to the nearest library and log onto a computer than it is for me to try to access anything on my phone. When I have attepted to use the internet on this devise the screen is so small web-pages are impossible to read, unless I zoom in...which takes about 15 seconds to redraw the page. It has GPS, but it's locked. The camera takes pictures so slow people have to stand perfectly still like they did in the 1800's to get a picture to come out with out blur. If you install any apps the thing bogs down even more, which i didn't think was possible...but it proved me wrong. It requires a soft reset no less than 3 times a week, and on bad days 3 times a day. The phone also randomly turns on in your pocket...even with the screen lock on, so when you pull it out to use it you have to exit out of the 15 programs that started running. This phone might have all the "bells and whistles" but it is so slow and in-effectual it renders them all totally useless. I only do two things with my phone now, make calls and text message. So if you want to revert back to the stone age of phones get the HTC Touch pro....actually you would be better off with a Nokia 5165.

"Dog! Bow Wow!!!! Stay away from this one. too slow" on by rickedakin
Pros: Looks cool and is small
I'll be kind and leave it as an attractive perosnal ornament becuase it sure does not work!Cons: Does not work worth a S _ _ t!
I can't belive Verizon is blocking the sale of iPhones while promoting this piece of crap. The screen has greatSummary: Run away form Verizon and get an iPhone. Even though AT&T has crappy coverage, the times you can use it will be worth the inconvenience.
Summary: Nobadoy has an iPhone killer and Microsoft will soon exit the Smart Phone business as a result. They are getting killed and the manufacturers like HTC don't help the Microsoft cause. Poor quality implmentation makes the HTC Diamond the Windows Me platform for the cell phone industry. -
"Now $49 and Better than Newer Models" on by mfurman
Pros: Screen - don't be fooled...this is important.
Camera...takes pics as nice as Omnia 5MP!
Card Slot...what would a Smartphone be without a cardslot?
Design, looks, really slick...wow factor.Cons: Would have liked the 4GB internal with the card slot.
Summary: Knockout phone. has all that matters and more. HTC builds the highest quality phones I've personally ever used, though Sammy's Omnia is a beautiful machine too.

"2 Phones in 4 Months; Touch screen stops responding" on by davisms
Pros: Nice interface.
Cons: My first Touch Diamond with Verizon Wireless, the screen stopped responding to touch. Verizon replaced the phone and stated that this was an uncommon problem. 2nd Replacement on order; the Touch screen again is failing to respond to touch input.
Summary: Avoid this phone, hardware is unreliable.
