"Not a bad phone, but not great."3.0 starson by fratcedars1
Pros: Its like a swiss army knife. Very useful, very nice to text on.
Cons: The screen quality is horrible. Nothing about it is fast.
Summary: I have to say that this phone could have been a great phone. The design is a great idea, but just doesn't quite make the grade in my book. I have owned this phone for four months now. I am returning my phone for a second time during that period. Both times my display was "bleeding". The phone still worked well, but the screen looked like a small oil spill in a puddle of water. It has a rainbow look to it and acts like water moving on the screen when using the device. Called Verizon and they said that it very rare for that to happen, well its happened twice in four months and I baby the phone. The first phone I bought I didn't put a screen protector on it hoping that the screen would be as durable as an iphone. I put the phone in my pocket without anything else in there and never dropped it. The very first day there were small scratches on the display. I decided to buy some protectors online. I got them a week later and by the time I put one on the screen was filled with small scratches! I noticed the bleeding screen about a week or two later. Verizon replaced the unit free of charge but said that was a one time courtesy and would charge me 50 dollars if it happened again. Well It did, and have decided to sell my replacement and get something else because of this annoying problem.I forgot to mention, the battery life barely gets me through the day. If I use it heavily, I can drain the battery in a few hours.
Apart from the screen, the phone is very slow to react. If you need to make a phone call quickly, you will get frustrated. Going through screens to make the call is slow at best. The web browser is almost unbearable too. My wife has a blackberry curve and we timed our web page load times and the htc was about three times slower every time. I also didn't like the fact you can only change your background at the home screen. All of the other screens are black, so customization isn't what it could be. The speakerphone is great, but there is a noticable delay from the moment you press the speakerphone to when you can actually use it, I would say a five second delay on average. The camera was ok in bright light, but not very good indoors even with good lighting. I noticed a constant yellow tint to every picture even when using settings adjustments to try and correct it.
I don't want to paint a negative picture on this phone, I really do like the phone. Its just not as good as it should have been. I like the versatility of the phone, but lacks in performance. You could definately do worse, but you could also do better. I suggest either the Omnia 2 or my next phone the Droid.
