"Delight to use, exceeding my expectations"
Pros: Best form-factor available; excellent integration of touch screen; excellent integration of windows mobile; live search beats competitors
Cons: Need to recharge battery every day or two; poor light collection in camera
Summary: Having owned PDAs of every stripe and multiple cell phones over the years, I have pretty high expectations. The form-factor of the HTC Touch was the first thing to sell me. This fits better in my hand than the various phones and blackberrys (and PDAs) I've owned or borrowed.
I was prepared to be somewhat disappointed. I'm not a big windows mobile fan. It turns out that after 3 months use for business (including long conference calls while traveling), texting my college age kids, getting directions, finding the closest drug store in a strange city, and keeping up with my reading, I'm more happy with this phone than I would have predicted.
C|Net's complaint about the keyboard is dead wrong. I compared this to various keyboarded phones before buying - like the AT&T tilt, a couple of blackberrys, a Treao, and other keyboarded phones. My accuracy on the HTC Touch is the same as on the others I tried. They are all tiny keyboards! The nice thing about the touch is the variety of options, including a full-screen add on, and the phones ability to learn your style and predict text for you.
I had a contest yesterday with a blackberry owner on finding a contact, making a call, and finding the nearest starbucks. The touch won every time.
If you need a great camera in a phone. Go a different route. If you want a device that will reliably keep you connected with the world and fit in your shirt pocket, pick up a Touch.
