Pros Build quality, responsive, pocket size, screen quality, ergonomics, battery life, call quality.
Cons Slighty dated design
Summary I guess Verizon felt compelled to carry a phone of some kind to satisfy their customers who wanted Windows Phone 7 instead of their very heavily pushed Droid selection. And thats a shame, since one gets the impression that they said, "Hey HTC, come up with something", and that was about it. HTC however, to it's credit provided the Trophy and and it's certainly not an afterthought to the smartphone market.
WP7 is a different approach to the smartphone OS. Not 'Minimalist', but exceptionally functional. And that is the way the Trophy works. The two get together and make an excellent, dependable, clear and likable smartphone experience. But they won't satisfy the gadget fan, super-power user or smartphone status-seekers. That's still the territory of the iPhone 4, Thunderbolt and Atrix users. And thats just fine, if you don't mind the horrible battery life, complexity and learning curve of, at least Android in it's various iterations.
Microsoft deserves serious praise for having the courage to persue a different, and in this reviewer's opinion, highly thoughtful path in it's OS development efforts. The Metro UI, based on transportation typefaces and graphics is just outstanding and just reeks of intelligence design. Unlike Android, which often can't seem to decide just how it wants to look, depending on the carrier, manufacturer or app maker.
The Trophy is a phone. It's not a multi-media movie experience provider. It's not a Skype device nor is it a dockable substiture for a netbook. The call quality is excellent. The screen is lovely and the overall look and feel is top-notch.
WP7 on this little HTC offering is what a smart PHONE should be. The Atrix or Thunderbolt is what a baby TABLET should be.
"Solid Phone"on by nmylet
Pros Does everything you need with nice interface. New features on the way.
Cons Tether not implemented but honestly have not missed it much. Should have it soon with Mango
Summary Great solid phone. Specs won't excite anyone but that does not make a difference in how it meets and exceeds your expectations in almost every way.
Pros Good phone.
Cons Not perfect.
Summary The only trophy I've ever bought or won, of any kind.
