Pros (1) Excellent build quality: Made of high grade material which isn't at all like cheap plastic! The metal back plate on my phone doesn't move and makes no noises when pushed
(2) Fantastic, large and sharp display with natural colors
(3) Fast downloads, in
Cons (1) Battery life is average
(2) Volume rocker is easy to activate inadvertently
(3) A bit on the heavy side after a long while of holding it
Summary Unlike Jessica's complaint regarding build quality, I find the phone very well built from high quality materials, no cheap plastic to be found. With a great, large display, fast dual-core processor, great cameras, Sense 3.0 + Android 2.3, this phone is a winner. In addition, HTC already announced that the Vivid will be among the first batch of phones to get the 4.0 ICS OS upgrade.I had seven entries in the "Pros" section but the last 4.5 were cut off...

Pros 1) Build Quality is great. I get no squeaking on mine and it's built like a tank. (Not at all cheap-feeling)
2) SLCD screen is great-reliable color reproduction, nice and sharp.
3) Downloads are fast, and so is the phone. Benchmarks don't prove everything
Cons 1) Battery life is "meh"
2) Somewhat heavy- It's got a fair amount of heft to it.
3) Some apps are uninstallable.
Summary An all-around spectacular phone. Mine didn't have the squeak, but the glossy back does scratch somewhat easily. However, it's built like a tank- very solid, with heft to boot. It's fast (Sense 3.0 is a fairly demanding UX), IMO a nice looking phone, and it comes with LTE.
Pros 1) Solidly built phone that doesn't feel cheap/plastic.
2) Better 8mp camera than the iPhone 4S (f/2.2 vs f/2.4).
3) 16gb of built in memory (no need for microSD cards, although it still allows you insert a microSD if you need to).
Cons 1) A bit on the heavy side, although that is the cost of having a phone that feels solid.
2) Video/audio quality is not great when shooting movies.
3) No Super AMOLED display.
Summary I have to disagree with the CNET reviewer, this phone does not feel/look like cheap plastic. Plastic-feeling phones are made by Samsung (don't get me wrong, I love the look of Samsung smartphones). I actually feel that the HTC Vivid looks better than previous HTC phones (that had weird rubber pieces and protrusions).
Pros Good resolution
Cons Cheap charging port. Good product idea but manufacture uses very cheap components. Not worth the money.
Summary I really like my cellphone until the charging port is broken after 8 months very gentle usage. Then I compared the microUSB port on my vivid with my kindle and my friend's Motorola Antrix, even from the appearance the other two seems much more durable than my charging port. There is a very small black plastic piece hanging in the center of the smaller charging port on my vivid. When I first bought it and plug in the usb charging cable, I feel some resistance but it still went in so I did not pay a lot attention. As time goes by the charging port is twisted continuously as I need to charge it every day. Eventally one day the plastic piece is not in the center anymore, which makes it impossible to charge or transport data. I called HTC and say it is within the warranty and this is your design flaw. They say the warranty is limited and most likely they would charge me more than $100 to repair it! There are many people experiencing problems with HTC's charging port and a good device is just destroied by a less than one dollar cheap component! Unbelievable!! Don't know what HTC people are thinking... Are they intentionally doing a favor to their competitors?? I used to love my HTC now I have to think about other brands...
Pros It takes nice photos, user friendly, although videos are not the best, they are better than some other phone shot videos.
Cons Hearing on he phone is an issue. Software is a total NIGHTMARE! Where to start, the shade refuses to raise when you are attempting to answer a call, text messages will not make a sound, while volume is on maximum.
Summary Phone calls won't be delivered, the phone will not ring, when volume is on maximum and no one is using the phone when the call comes in. Phone freezes, eventually the battery must be removed from the phone in order to re-boot the system. After about 8 months of usage, these problems manifested. Battery life is 4-5 hours maximum. Bad recharger sockets. I purchased this phone, my daughter also and we stupidly talked someone else into getting this phone. All three of us have experienced all of the above problems. Recently another friend advised she owned this phone for three years and she started to rattle off all the problems, it was everything I listed above!
After owning this phone for a year, it has become totally unbearable to use or attempt to operate. My friend had 3 surgeons attempt to call her this week to let her know that a biopsy was benign, not one call got through to her cell phone! They didn't even go into voice mail! When she got home, thankfully, the doctors had also called her house and the messages were on her home phone. BEWARE OF THIS PHONE!
